Marguerite Records proudly welcomes Northern Europe's machine funk masters, @harlemelectronics, as the 17th label output.

Cagey is a punchy cocktail of sly bass hooks, raw machine grooves, and found sounds, all tied together by vocals that shape-shift from staccato statements to haunted murmurs and back again. Featuring six tracks including a remix by Colombian producer Filmmaker. The opener Cagey sets the tone with an elastic, Liaisons Dangereuses-esque bassline coiling around its tail and a propulsive electro beat juxtaposed with the track's cadenced vocals. Blynde amps up the hypnotic feel a notch by throwing a momentum-building bass, snatches of words from the experimental film Anti-Clock, and detached vocals into the blender. The result is street electro evoking a secret discotheque in Rimini in 1985, overtaken by disaffected mutants. Ending the A-side is the slow burner Lawn Preacher, which builds cinematic tension with a synth hook straight from the depths of Ralf Hütter's subconscious. The sly hip-wrecker Coast to Coast kicks off the B-side by setting the tempo to a syrup-laced new beat pulse. This is the soundtrack for a car cruising along the outer reaches of a tropical beach at night. Next, Slovak Casinos picks up the pace with funky techno at its dirtiest. The track's coy vocals beckon the listener to enter a dizzying gambling world of random numbers, slot machines gone kaput, and card counters losing track. On the record’s final track, Colombian beat wizard @flmmkr kicks the gears into turbo drive on his demented speed-addicted remix of Slovak Casinos. Cagey is defined by a dry, cheeky irreverence that keeps it uncompromisingly fresh and forward-leaning. Prepare yourself for a mind-altering experience with each listen, as this record sets a new standard for electronic music operating at the outskirts of the dance-floor.

Electro is fundamentally modern. The coldness of the machine laid bare, a human attempt to express through circuits and wiring. Despite adhering to specific codes and norms, it is a sound that refuses to be pigeonholed. It is with this in mind that Shipwrec has collected a wealth of international talent to showcase their own vision of this bracing style. Serge Geyzel incises from the needle drop, the acid blistered "Still There" is sliced and quartered by scissoring snares. Endfest changes the trajectory with the modular warmth of "La Chouffe" before the lines change and Manasyt delivers the darkened angles and punishing percussion of "Row Hammer." Andrew Red Hand maintains the shadowy synthlines of his predecessor, industrial undertones bubbling to the surface in distortion-soaked aggression. The mood shifts with Alpha Visitor. Crystalline chords are punctured by crisp drum patterns, stabbing keys and broad arcs unveil a world of sci-fi inspirations. The finale comes from Jauzas the Shining. Broad sweeps introduce "Shemale" before dripping drums are countered by samples and icy blasts. Modern machine music from six masters.

As our fourth release we are extremely excited to present an EP from Leszek Romaniak, hiding under X-Truder, a Polish artist currently based in the UK.
Since childhood, music has always had an important place in Leszek's life. As a teenager he was into rap, breakdancing and graffiti, sometimes listening to Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin and Photek. It was around that time that turntables and scratching/vinyl playing caught his attention, but it was Dave Clarke and his techno-electro DJ sets that blew Leszek's mind. Then he decided he wanted to do it too and immersed himself in electronic music: Umek, Chris Liebing, DJ Hell, Hacker, Dopplereffekt. Eventually Leszek bought a pair of Technics 1210s and started collecting vinyl records and DJing. He did this for almost 20 years under different names. Obviously the next step was to produce music, but he didn't take it seriously until 2018 when he started «X-Truder».

We've always been deeply captivated by his unbridled pure energy of ripping beats and rhythms with a strong edge of distortion and timbral diversity. Which is also what our release confirms. Literally with German machine precision, Leszek builds his powerfully effective structures and imagery, at the same time that have a fundamentally wild and unbridled energy emanating from the drums.
