Jimmy Van M has been an integral part of Bedrock's history with many releases from the labels inception. Most recently he and Oliver Lieb teamed up to bring us their Collaborations album release in 2012 as well as his "We Are Children" track which featured on John Digweed's Structures Two CD in 2011.

Now in 2013, Jimmy Van M is back on Bedrock and this time he has teamed up with Spanish producer AFFKT and Argentinean Producer/Singer Luxor T. Jimmy Van M and Luxor T have been working for more than a year now together and currently working an album project.  Luxor T a trained musician and Jimmy´s production experience on the dancefloor is hitting the right combination for freshly unique tracks each time. AFFKT heard one of Jimmy´s new tracks feat Luxor T - Like U and liked the vocal.  When talking they agreed to try an original together with Luxor T vocals which is how Dreams came into play and rest fell into place easy with great vibes.   Working together on this project AFFKT and Jimmy Van M feed off the creativity and positive enthusiasm to make quality music, you can hear they are into it and having fun. 

The result is Dreams which is a bass driven track that builds and builds with swung percussion creating a relentless groove with Luxor T's vocal layered perfectly over it all with an almost hypnotic effect. For those who prefer the dub vibe there is stripped back version of Dreams without the vocal which features extended pads and toughened up percussion. The final piece is Lucid which is a much more heads down affair for a darker and trippier ride than Dreams which will be perfect for tougher and techier sets. All in all a quality package that should have something for everyone and as we have witnessed John Digweed successfully road testing all of them over the past few months we know they rock on the dancefloor. Italy’s fastest rising name in house and techno returns to the respected Drumcode imprint with this blistering new 4-track EP, ‘Climax’. Featuring a distinctive vocal sample crescending over a typically thumping bassline, opening lead track ‘Climax’ grows gradually with the introduction of a single synth note and skipping hi-hats. Two beatless breakdowns increase the pressure whilst a new synth melody is introduced in the second, making for a powerful ending as all the elements join together.

‘Boost’ starts out deep and dark, with a high-pitched call echoing over a determined beat. The track changes course mid-way through with the introduction of a bassy, low-pitched synth melody, helping ‘Boost’ evolve into a catchier, more playful track.

‘Spectre’, a no-nonsense closing piece featuring a jittering synth note, rattling hi-hats and a trademark tension-filled breakdown.

‘Over The Clouds’, as its name would suggest, is the gentlest of the four tracks. Filled with dusty textures over a rumbling bassline, twinkling synths move in waves before lower-pitched chords join, adding a real sense of depth to this production.

Overall, ‘Climax’ is an outstanding example of Faraone’s ear for detail as a producer: his experience as both a resident and touring DJ clearly feeds into his skill for manipulating tension in his productions like he does on the dancefloors. Having recently warmed up for Adam Beyer at Tenax, Marco Faraone’s relationship with the iconic label continues to grow.

Butch’s newest offering ‘Retechno 2’ is a bass-heavy, dark, two track techno delight. The kick drums are intense, the samples interesting and the synths apparent – Butch’s quirky style of production can be heard throughout. Magnetic, holding a futurist edge with it’s spaceship sounds, cuts a deep groove with eager crescendos and heavy drops. Antimatter is packed with energy, a driving bass line and fierce drops. Butch’s productions are raw, powerful and robust - a release not for the faint hearted.

Adam Beyer’s Drumcode juggernaut attracts more fans and critical plaudits with each passing year. Holding firm on its future facing ethos, techno’s number one label presents a new volume in its acclaimed A-Sides series with 20 prime tracks to signify its 20th anniversary. 

Such is the volume of quality music Adam Beyer receives throughout the course of the year, releasing all of it would be impossible. Enter the blue chip A-Sides series: a chance for the quality-obsessive label head to issue a collection of outstanding tracks that couldn’t fit in their regular EP release schedule. 

With an eye on future talent, as much as the label’s established roster of heavy-hitters, the compilation showcases the full breadth of Drumcode’s multifaceted techno sound, equal parts inspiring and functional.
 
Led by the stealth techno funk of ‘Nine of You’, Beyer’s deft collaboration with Mark Reeve, the compilation takes in exciting highlights from big guns such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Dustin Zahn, Bart Skils, Pleasurekraft, Luca Agnelli, Jay Lumen, Kaiserdisco and Gary Beck. 

The rich vein of form displayed by emerging techno talent is similarly given prime position. Rising DJ/producer Boxia makes his Drumcode debut, fresh from a well-received warm up set for the crew at the hugely successful Junction 2 festival in London, while the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Juan Sanchez, Ian O’Donovan and Timmo also drop fire, establishing their credentials as some of the most promising talent breaking through the ranks in 2016. 

Reinforcing the global scope of the label, artists such as The Junkies from Toronto and Layton Giordani from New York, prove techno is winning a place in the heart of the new generation of artists coming out of North America.

Having returned from an extended musical hiatus to deliver April’s excellent ’33.3’, label favourite Stelios Vassiloudis returns to double up on his former ep and close out 2016 with another fine three track selection in ’66.6’. 

Stelios’ powerful and dynamic productions have established him as one of Bedrock’s melodic masters. His tracks and remixes are essential tools for the creative DJ. Those who seek to forge intimate sensations and stories on the dancefloor, be it through emotive soundscapes or segueing into tougher territory. 

66.6 delivers yet more of these crucial cuts. The moody purring synth of 'Blood Orange’ opens the EP with an unnerving deepness, before we’re introduced to the almost industrial stomp and pulsing bass of ‘Slippy’. Somewhat oddly named with its spikey melody and rough edges. Finally Stelios orders us back into the depths as we’re held within the sultry cinematic confines on La Quarantaine.

Carl Cox is an industry figure head whose legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell.

Techno focused, the new Intec release comes from Nicole Moudaber who is one of the worlds leading DJs and producers. 

Having graced the best known clubs and festivals in the world she is a headline act who has also released music on labels such as Adam Beyer's Drumcode and Pan-Pot's Second State. 

Nicole Moudaber features regularly on Intec and a core member of the labels family of artists, which also includes the likes of Harvey McKay, Sidney Charles, Josh Wink, Dosem and Carlo Lio.

With a wealth of music history Nicole Moudaber is an event promoter and founder of MOOD Records, plus her weekly radio show InTheMOOD it helps keep her ahead of the game.

This sophisticated release has industrial undertones and a raw sound that showcases Nicole Moudaber's underground side, with a selection of tracks worthy of Berghains main room.

Empty Space is understated Techno with sparse percussion and deep atmospherics layered over a prominent kick drum. Dark and eerie with industrial undertones, this intelligent track is like a detailed piece of black and white artwork, where shade and texture are used to add contrast and eloquence.

Be Gone has a menacing lead synth and enthralling offbeat stabs that combine with subtle pads to creature a brooding tension. Dancefloor focused, its all about the breakdown where everything becomes a tornado of sound until the storm breaks and a pounding kick drum emerges.

Young Hearts is stripped back with fast flowing high hats and monstrous synths that bellow like air raid sirens. Adding to the menace are sculpted sounds which weave round the vigorous rhythms of the mechanical percussion that houses the tracks array of sonic components.

Next up on OneFold DGTL we bring you big things from Alex Lister aka A Lister. After smashing his remix of 'One Of A Kind' for OneFold Records back in 2015, the Leeds based talent is back, this time to take the reigns at our underground imprint. 'Future' is an absolute monster of an EP, with Lister's stand out original mix smashing all expectations and paving the way for two mammoth re-works from some of the hottest talent in the industry. 

Testament to his faultless production, Lister's original weaves finely tuned drum grooves through a chunky, rolling bass line, creating a solid, no-fuss dance floor staple. We then look to house heavyweight Jey Kurmis who's first up on the remixes, serving up a futuristic take on the track with assertive, high pitched additions and emphasised vocals. Mancunian Abode resident Jimmy Switch rounds things off, adding a new dimension with fast paced, melodic synths, ensuring this EP has all the ingredients to be one of the stand out releases this year.

Now in its second decade, with a steady stream of the most forward thinking and cutting edge techno productions, Drumcode has one of the biggest selections of releases from industry heavy hitters, whilst not forgetting its future by bringing the newest talented producers into the limelight, where Layton Giordani is now a name firmly within that line up.

The New York born, but now EU based producer first had recognition back in 2014, and his debut release came via Drumcode with his track “Rivington” on the A-Sides Vol5 compilation in 2016. 

Consisting of 12 original tracks, the album packs a punch when it comes to no-nonsense techno. Successfully weaving relentless drums and catchy vocal hooks into a selection of thick, brooding, atmospheric tracks.

With its monstrous reverb and distinctive arpeggio synth breakdowns, ‘Up & Down’ is already a cult classic. Originally released on Charles Ramirez’s own label Hall Of Fame Records, it is equal parts Sci-Fi electro balanced with contemporary deep house. Charles Ramirez teamed up with two Romanian house heads Luca M and JUST2 to deliver this sophisticated workout with real depth. 

Franky Rizardo is in his element with this remix, exploring the techy and dark parameters of the track, re-working the synth arpeggios into a rolling motif and filling out the beat for maximum effect. Not just a remix, Franky has made an already outstanding track all his own.

In November we had the pleasure to release "Lunation" the second studio album of our favorite Berliner duo Luna City Express. The album includes 16 amazing tracks riding from house/techno to downbeat and funk with a lot of good vocal and musical featuring. We thought to ask some of the label's and LCE fav producer to put their touch on some selected tracks to release the remixes.
For the Part 1 of this exciting project we have on board Dario D'Attis touching "Victims of the Funk" and Breyn on Smokin Bull.

Glasgow Underground was set up in 1997 by Kevin McKay. He began the label releasing his own music and collaborations with friends and other Glasgow-based artists (Omid 16b, Studio Blue, DJ Q, Harri). Through his DJing and work for various music magazines (Muzik, Jockey Slut, Mixmag Update) he met some of his favourite producers of the time (Romanthony, Mateo & Matos, Idjut Boys...) and convinced some of them to join him releasing on GU. In the early 2000s, Kevin met Mylo and set up the Breastfed record label. The global success of "Destroy Rock & Roll" meant Glasgow Underground was put on hold. After leaving the Breastfed label in 2011, Kevin re-started Glasgow Underground and since then the label has gone on to re-invigorate Romanthony's catalogue with remixes from the likes of Dixon, MCDE, Gerd, Andres, Oliver Dollar, Ejeca, Audiojack, Claptone, Christian Nielsen, Supernova, Jimmy Edgar and Waifs & Strays. The label has also introduced producers like Daniel Trim, Brett Gould, Mia Dora and Illyus & Barrientos as well has releasing established & rising stars such as Metodi Hristov, Stefano Ritteri and Sabb.
