Prolific Polish duo Catz ‘n Dogz return to DFTD with ‘Fired Up’, featuring Dope Earth Alien’s unmistakeable vocal. The house, disco and electro DJs and producers have just celebrated two decades of chart-topping releases and international shows with a special remix compilation on their own label, ‘20 Years Of Catz ‘n Dogz’ on Pets Recordings; the label bosses are also heading to Defected Croatia 2024 for an anniversary boat party like no other. Following their two-track DFTD releases ‘Inner Revelation’ and ‘No Regrets’ in 2020 and 2021 respectively, Greg and Voitek return to the London club label with prolific dance vocalist Dope Earth Alien; also a DFTD returnee following recent club hits ‘That Sound’ with Deeper Purpose & GUZ and ‘Tempo’ with OFFAIAH. For ‘Fired Up’, Dope Earth Alien’s signature vocal flow is heavily manipulated over driving rhythms and heavy bass synths, creating a powerful and techy outing on DFTD while showcasing a darker side to Catz ‘n Dogz.

Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner" has been an evergreen source of sample fun for dance producers. From the original slo-mo rework by DNA in 1989 through Robbie Doherty's "Pour The Milk" to Kevin McKay's definitive #1 Deep House rework in 2023 (5 months at the top of the charts), the right version of this song will always move dancefloors. Amal enlists Darcey's vocal talents for her version and delivers a wicked rolling groove complete with trademark percussion and a low pumper of a bassline. This sweet banger will be a go-to slice of tech for us for some time to come.

London’s James Lee follows-up his Operator-approved “You Hear Me Girl?” with another turbo-charged house groove. This time he heads to New York City and teams up with DJ producer Thando and vocalist Charlé for a classy spoken word journey into big room electronics. “Take me back to a time when there were no phones on the dancefloor,” entones Charlé, echoing a popular sentiment in clubland right now. But while Charlé pleads for a return to the carefree, hedonistic clubbing of the 90s, Thando and Lee are very much rooted in 2024 with a groove that has destroyed the huge dancefloor at Lee’s Roast party and would be a perfect accompaniment to productions by Noizu, Deeper Purpose and Biscits. It’s a banger.

While these hypnotic, deeper grooves filled his DJ sets, he still looked to edits and reworks to create peaktime moments. The most successful of these was his edit of Kid Cudi’s 2008 anthem, Day ’N’ Nite. It tore up the dancefloor at London’s huge LGBTQ+ parties, Roast and Beyond. Now, with the help of our brilliant vocal producer, we have recreated it so you can access it for your massive set moments. Glasgow Underground was set up in 1997 by Kevin McKay. He began the label releasing his own music and collaborations with friends and other Glasgow-based artists (Omid 16b, Studio Blue, DJ Q, Harri). Through his DJing and work for various music magazines (Muzik, Jockey Slut, Mixmag Update) he met some of his favourite producers of the time (Romanthony, Mateo & Matos, Idjut Boys...) and convinced some of them to join him releasing on GU. In the early 2000s, Kevin met Mylo and set up the Breastfed record label. The global success of "Destroy Rock & Roll" meant Glasgow Underground was put on hold. After leaving the Breastfed label in 2011, Kevin re-started Glasgow Underground and since then the label has gone on to re-invigorate Romanthony's catalogue with remixes from the likes of Dixon, MCDE, Gerd, Andres, Oliver Dollar, Ejeca, Audiojack, Claptone, Christian Nielsen, Supernova, Jimmy Edgar and Waifs & Strays. The label has also introduced producers like Daniel Trim, Brett Gould, Mia Dora and Illyus & Barrientos as well has releasing established & rising stars such as Metodi Hristov, Stefano Ritteri and Sabb.
