Montreal's Mitch Oliver appeared on our radar earlier this year with the mesmerising house cut "Control Z", recorded with viral music sensation Might Delete Later. "Tell Me What You Want" continues his impressive run of form with a looping techy groove topped with a hooky-as-hell vocal. I stumbled across this acapella a few months ago and absolutely fell in love with Danielle Ponder's voice. It was so compelling that it felt as if the universe was calling me to create a song with it, so I did. This track is an accumulation of everything I have learned about producing in the past year. I wrote it, mixed it and mastered it all myself (aside from the vocal obviously). It's not perfect but it's honest work and I'm proud of it. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.

King James Lee is the musical driving force behind one of London's biggest LGBTQIA+ parties, Roast @ Electrowerkz. James delivers high-octane, tech-edged entertainment every fortnight to a packed house of bears, cubs, chubs, chasers, muscles and admirers. His first single with us (w/ Brandy X) was the brilliant "Break The Disco", a pumping yet personal protest song about acceptance in clubland. On "Body Bumpin", he and vocalist Leyla Diamondi take us to Roast's main room for a no-holes-barred DJ-friendly thump-fest. Hardfloor-esque acid and Andruss-style beats underpin a system-shaking bassline, while Leyla delivers a cool-as-you-like topline. "DJ, come give me something," she deadpans before the main drop, and King James Lee delivers with aplomb. It's a killer.

Prolific Polish duo Catz ‘n Dogz return to DFTD with ‘Fired Up’, featuring Dope Earth Alien’s unmistakeable vocal. The house, disco and electro DJs and producers have just celebrated two decades of chart-topping releases and international shows with a special remix compilation on their own label, ‘20 Years Of Catz ‘n Dogz’ on Pets Recordings; the label bosses are also heading to Defected Croatia 2024 for an anniversary boat party like no other. Following their two-track DFTD releases ‘Inner Revelation’ and ‘No Regrets’ in 2020 and 2021 respectively, Greg and Voitek return to the London club label with prolific dance vocalist Dope Earth Alien; also a DFTD returnee following recent club hits ‘That Sound’ with Deeper Purpose & GUZ and ‘Tempo’ with OFFAIAH. For ‘Fired Up’, Dope Earth Alien’s signature vocal flow is heavily manipulated over driving rhythms and heavy bass synths, creating a powerful and techy outing on DFTD while showcasing a darker side to Catz ‘n Dogz.

Glasgow Underground was set up in 1997 by Kevin McKay. He began the label releasing his own music and collaborations with friends and other Glasgow-based artists (Omid 16b, Studio Blue, DJ Q, Harri). Through his DJing and work for various music magazines (Muzik, Jockey Slut, Mixmag Update) he met some of his favourite producers of the time (Romanthony, Mateo & Matos, Idjut Boys...) and convinced some of them to join him releasing on GU. In the early 2000s, Kevin met Mylo and set up the Breastfed record label. The global success of "Destroy Rock & Roll" meant Glasgow Underground was put on hold. After leaving the Breastfed label in 2011, Kevin re-started Glasgow Underground and since then the label has gone on to re-invigorate Romanthony's catalogue with remixes from the likes of Dixon, MCDE, Gerd, Andres, Oliver Dollar, Ejeca, Audiojack, Claptone, Christian Nielsen, Supernova, Jimmy Edgar and Waifs & Strays. The label has also introduced producers like Daniel Trim, Brett Gould, Mia Dora and Illyus & Barrientos as well has releasing established & rising stars such as Metodi Hristov, Stefano Ritteri and Sabb.
