Calamity Suite

Music created for Christmas 2015:

"Christmas is a special time of the year for many people. There is something very nostalgic about it. That is something I wanted to capture with the music I wrote. That is not an easy task because what can I say that hasn't been already said. Many Christmas songs "feel" like Christmas not necessarily because of what they sound like but history and nostalgia that they bring, reminding people of their childhoods and families. I approached the music with something that I felt was universally "christmas-y": bells. The bells I used come in different forms: sleigh bells, tubular bells (orchestral chimes) and glockenspiel. Another very bell like instrument I used was the Celesta. It has a very whimsical childlike christmas sound to it. For some tracks, I wanted to capture some of the mystery of Christmas using light textures in my sound while retaining the whimsy of the season. I hope the music that I wrote helps harken back to a happy Christmas memory for you.
