With the originals getting props from the likes of DJ Yoda, Fatboy Slim and JFB - it was time to do the do on the remix front and make the whole package even bigger. On 'Feel Good', Krafty Kuts moves away from the slinky p-funk of the original to lay down a more up-tempo funk version, while thatmanmonkz replaces the funk sample of the original with a driving house groove.

Over on 'Back In The Day', Smoove does exactly what his Old School mix says on the tin, dropping classic hip hop samples into the mix. George Solar finished off the package with a dubby slo-mo balearic mix perfect for downtempo sets on the island he calls home.

While on tour in Hawaii I rented a bike and rode around the island of Maui. My backpack full with two avacados, a few dates, a pocketknife and my bike repair kit. A strong wind on my back and off I went along the unforgettable Hana Highway, an experience etched into my memory. Every 10 minutes I was confronted with different climates, light, and vegetation. Roads strewn with passionfruit turning the surface into a skating rink filled with rainbows, fresh water and salt water. Sleeping under the stars and waking up with a dose of adrenelin instead of my usual caffeine because I had to climb up a tree to get to my coconut milk.
Get Down is my musical interpretation of that trip.

Electro Swing Thing Records enters the 30th round and presents the second release of newcomer Glenn Gatsby from Oslo in Norway. Classic vintage swing sample themes are packed here in a danceable and groovy Swing House club tune. "I Wonder Where" is a solid production and has brought together many stylistic elements, from a Hip Hop break part, to a bouncy Deep House bassline and the vintage string theme as lead melody on top. A very well working production and pretty danceable!

Wolfgang Lohr and Offbeat join forces once again to bring us another seasonal Electro Swing smasher, this time celebrating Spring!

Wolfgang’s production is on point as ever and wonderfully reflects the sense of joy from coming out of the cold hard Winter and feeling the first rays of the new sun.

The catchy number is complemented by Offbeat’s entertaining vocals which include typically humorous lyrics such “Someone needs to tell Jon Snow that winter’s coming - no it’s not, Swing is here and it’s getting hot!”

The final component is the beautiful singing of Nina Zeitlin, which ties everything together wonderfully and evokes further Springtime sentiment. And not to forget, the inimitable Manouche guitar groove by Guglielmo Cassinelli, guitarist of the Neo Swing Band Free Shots from Italy. His guitar rhythm and melody lines bring spring back to life!

“Swing in Spring” is being released on Wolfgang’s own label Electro Swing Thing and is, appropriately, coming out on the first day of Spring - 20th March!
