After releasing the Let’s Go EP on Fort Knox Recordings last year, Qdup returns with a funky collection of tunes featuring some amazing vocalists from Austin, Texas. While Qdup was in Austin DJ’ing at the Art Outside Festival, he linked up with some of Austin’s finest MC’s and the result is the Lone Star EP. The funk flows deep in both Austin and DC and it shows on this strong release.

MC’s Tee Double and Tigre Liu channel P-funk and deliver booty shaking party rhymes to great effect on “Mothership Calling”. This tune is will heat up the party with laser effects flying, funky synth bass chops and a talk-box laden message from the Mothership to get you on the dance floor. This tune is will heat up the party with laser effects flying and funky synth bass chops laying the groove. “Mothership Calling” is remixed by Ursula1000 from NYC, who gives the track a running midtempo 4/4 Nu-Disco vibe with hints of techno, which sits beautifully with the funk laden party lyrics. “Electro Funk Boogie” is just that, a funk laced electro-funk track with Bavu Blakes gracing the mic over a slinky, boogie bassline. Miami’s quickly rising producer Warp 9 remixes “Electro Funk Boogie” with his additional talk-box vocals and glitched out funk treatment. Closing out the release, Germany’s Funkanomics put their twist on “Electro Funk Boogie”. With an infectious clav riff reminiscent of Stevie Wonder and the Funkos signature sub bass and pumped up beats, their remix is sure to pack dance floors and keep heads nodding.

Qdup and Fort Knox Five have road tested these tunes to assure their dance floor potency at festivals and clubs. The Lone Star EP comes locked and loaded to light up the dance floor. Warp9’s amazing Dub mix of “Electro Funk Boogie” along with instrumentals of all original and remixes are available.

Sliced bass-lines, filtered synths and thick drums rule the composition of the duo from Budapest… Having had a long No.1 Charts hit for Nipponeer Records on the previous release, Kid Panel has returned to the label delivering a special re-work to please all the old-school heads who were filling the dancefloors in the '90s. In case, you were familiar with the Big-Beat raves some twenty years ago, you'll be more than delighted to hear his contribution to the release… Introducing on the label, AGFA, the godfathers of new funky-breaks, is putting down a beautiful example how a proper remix shall be delivered! Leaving their signature on the sound, the guys from USA twirl it all up nice and bouncy.... A new decade comes alive and the legendary Krafty Kuts is showing no signs of letting up as he drops his latest Ep on Bombstrikes. It's hard to imagine how he finds time to keep making such quality music alongside a global touring schedule but boy does he manage to do it, and in some style. Once again Krafty Kuts has delivered an Ep that simply oozes with bass and funk. The title track has him teaming up with long-time partner in crime, Dynamite MC for 'Masterplan'. Dynamites' flow and unique ability should be no surprise to us by now after momentous work alongside everyone from Roni Size to Beverley Knight but he smashes this one out of the park. His vocals lock perfectly with the funkified hook and bass. Next up is something of a monster, the appropriately titled 'Boom'. This has dance floor destroyer written all over it, a full on bass assault that attacks with low down and deep frequencies. Rounding things off with an infectious melody and inspiring chord progression is the delightful 'Superbad' which captures the somewhat elusive emotional side of electronica, no mean feat, but one which Krafty Kuts has achieved in classic style. Simply outstanding!
