A Glitterbox collaboration from legends Shakedown & Bootsy Collins, ‘Funky And You Know It’, receives a remix from French multi-faceted artist Myd. Originally released in September 2023, the Swiss electronic project Shakedown joined forces with American record producer, vocalist and funk legend Bootsy Collins for an instant classic that has soundtracked the label’s extravagant parties ever since. Now the producer, DJ and member of esteemed electronic band Club Cheval Myd steps up on remix duties, adding his eclectic flair to the funk-laden record. The Ed Banger signed artist’s remix of ‘Funky And You Know It’ takes the rolling feel of the original and ups the tempo, injecting a dose of nu disco into the already uplifting track and ensuring the distinctive vocals of Bootsy Collins are heard on global dancefloors for years to come.

Berlin-based Glitterbox favourites Lovebirds return with their second original label outing ‘Shut The Lights Out’, featuring vocals from NILE and a remix from disco aficionado Birdee. Lovebirds are regarded for their colourful 70s and 80s inspired productions, making the perfect addition to the jazz, funk, soul and disco of the Glitterbox record collection with previous outing ‘Burn It Down’. Now they unveil the powerful funk-and-groove-laden ‘Shut The Lights Out’, featuring London-based singer-songwriter NILE, an artist who has accompanied the likes of Jessie Ware, Kylie Minogue and Olly Alexander. Together the artists create throwback magic, with an arrestingly funky beat bolstered by bold disco instrumentation, dreamlike synth work and NILE’s motivational spoken word. Birdee then takes the sparkling original and adds their signature disco touch, creating an upbeat and spacey remix for the floor.

An artist who exemplifies the beloved Glitterbox sound, The Shapeshifters aka Simon Marlin returns to the label with ‘Beautiful Day’ featuring vocals from daughter of Soulstress Nina Whitaker, Liisi Lafontaine. Since his acclaimed Glitterbox LP ‘Let Loose’ and subsequent Deluxe edition, which saw the UK household name work with luminaries Billy Porter, Joss Stone, Teni Tinks and CHIC’s Kimberly Davis, Simon has remained one of the world’s most in-demand disco authorities. Now back in the studio after a relentless touring schedule, which saw him ring in the new year at Glitterbox’s Wembley takeover in 2024, Simon foregoes the signature disco strings of recent hits to make way for a heavier and progressive sound, rooted in memories formed at Glitterbox’s Hï Ibiza party and Defected Croatia. This comeback release, ‘Beautiful Day’ features Liisi Lafontaine, an established vocalist with previous credits in Moulin Rouge and Dreamgirls, now recording dance music with the genre’s best; Liisi’s buttery smooth vocals add a cool, downtown vibe to the understated yet powerful production of ‘Beautiful Day’, signalling good club vibes only for summer 2024.
