By mixing hypnotic beats with silky and melodic leads, “Back & Forth'' conceives a magnetic environment filled with both intensity and beauty. The fast-paced yet melancholic feel of “Back & Forth” sets the tone for the future conceptual EP, while only exploring a small portion of the abstract storyline. English Fables Vol.1 is the follow up to 2022’s Chippa.

Recorded at home DIY style with a beaten up old tube mic, a nylon stringed guitar, an assortment of guitar pedals and a set of good intentions. This album is chock full of personality, characters and brimming with life.

On English Fables Vol.1 you’ll find an authentic voice delivering stories of the England he knows, of people and of life – all wrapped in musical grit, bounding knee beats, bouncing guitar refrains and beautiful strings, with some wonderfully oddball songs with hooks to die for (Michael, I Knocked You Off The Ladder, Billy With The Wonky Toe).

And in the tradition of the classic English songbook there are wonderful little original gems to be found like Funny Habits, Tip Of My Tongue, Resting Face and Stop And Enjoy it.
There’s even a guest spot for the velvety tones of Marina Florance.

Behind Johnno’s 'survive life by laughing at life' persona there is a real deeper craftmanship in action here, through his enchanting multi instrumentation and clever lyrical interplay.

There’s also a fearlessness from Johnno in covering his battles with chronic health conditions (The Little Things), toxic masculinity faced growing up on a council estate (Patriarchy Vs A Mothers Love), male violence (Punch), the pollution of our waterways (Pipe Dreams), and mental health challenges (Sometimes Life Is Really).

Track 2 Come On Down was apparently born out of listening sessions with Sleaford Mods, Donald Byrd's New Perspective and Dexy's Midnight Runners, with a splash of 7” inch Northern Soul thrown in for good measure, yet it comes out sounding totally upbeat Snippet, totally Johnno in a top mood.

English Fables – Vol.1 is an album of empathy, compassion and warmth - this is beautiful English outsider art from a thriving DIY cottage industry of really interesting recording artists like Johnno Snippet making special musical moments and new memories to bring joy to people.

Back story - Johnno recorded and toured with bands such as Deep Joy who were born out of the early 90’s London acid house/club scene - working with Andrew Weatherall, David Harrow and onto the early years of trip-hop on James Lavelle’s Mo ‘Wax label and being championed by Gilles Peterson. They dented the charts in New York, Tokyo and London and also worked with legendary On-U-Sound label founder and producer Adrian Sherwood.

Sometimes Life Is Really Shit

It's a feel-good, upbeat summer pop song that is guitar-driven and features female vocal harmonies.  The song could also be categorized in the country pop / acoustic rock sub-genres.

“The song is inspired by both the opportunities and struggles of having my heart in two places,” says Rita.  “When I used to hear the saying, ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is,’ I always thought it was a tacky phrase.  But now I feel like I fully understand what it means, and it doesn’t feel so tacky to me.  The catalyst for my transatlantic move was about meeting my wife 22 years ago and all the incredible energy one feels when they fall in love, but to add the same-sex marriage ban aspect to it, I ended up breaking a lot of hearts, namely my family, friends, and even my own because my heart always felt like it was in two places. The song has become an affirmation that my home is wherever I am.  Each time I sing it, it takes a bit of the sting away because it reminds me that I’m actually home within myself.”

Glitzy is a showbiz tour de force, blending disco house and glam rock through a queer lens. 
 
Their reimagining of ZZTop’s ‘Sharp Dressed Man’ celebrates gender fluidity and sex positivity, transforming it into a gender queer dancefloor anthem. 
 
Glitzy Von Jagger’s alter ego is Darren James Day, a Performer/DJ and graduate of Italia Conti. Both Glitzy and Darren have performed internationally and in the UK, including the West End, and presented their own show Dance with Me for Sky.
 
Glitzy loves to break new ground with their sparkly heels, making history as the first drag queen to attend the Royal Enclosure at Ascot and having their writing archived within the British Library. They have won several drag competitions, including Virgin’s UK drag star. 
 
2024 sees Glitzy appearing as a mentor for Runway Reels on Paramount Plus and featuring in the upcoming film Tiny Little Voices, directed by Chris Rogers.
