In the mid-80s, I was a DJ at the infamous dance café "The Dreams Club," later renamed "Discotheek El Cid" in Zonhoven, Belgium. One day, a very charismatic young man walked in, instantly standing out with a pink headband he wore. He handed me two singles: Jambo Sana and Liberty. His stage name was Mario Mathy. I played those records endlessly, and they became the foundation for the best time of my life. Little did I know that he would later become world-famous, earning titles like "Synthesizer King" or even "Synth-God." With 11 synthesizers, he crafted some of the most beautiful synthpop of his era. Back then, Mario made the unexpected decision to stop making music entirely and unplugged his creative outlet.

Just a few days ago, I decided to download everything I could find for free as MP3 and WAV files. I compiled his 39 tracks into a collection I named: Synth-God Collection - Ode to Mario Mathy. He truly deserves to become wildly popular, especially now that he’s decided to continue sharing his incredible musical talents. Gloomy is a huge fan, and I bet you will be too after listening to this remarkable collection.
