It’s going to be a big year for Tincture’s Luke Dalton. He's back with the follow up single from his forthcoming EP, “Tryst”, which is set to cement his place in the scene as a force to be reckoned with.

Similar Circles represents a progression in his sound, borrowing influence from acts like Shelter Point and The Knife, yet never forsaking his penchant for lush synth and sharp percussion. At it's heart, Similar Circles grapples with the fear of stagnation through routine. Though you can feel a sense of yearning, the track never quite reaches the anxious resolve it strives for - "repeating, repeating, repeating until the same things come back again".

At some point in 2013, Friendly Fires, Andrew Weatherall and Timothy J Fairplay (aka The Asphodells), convened in an east London pub to discuss collaborating on new music together. The plan was to produce music that came from a place outside of their respective usual musical styles - a loose, open-ended process embarked upon for the pure joy of experimentation and collaboration rather than a specific end goal.

The collaboration came on the back of two hugely successful Friendly Fires albums – 2008’s debut Friendly Fires and 2011’s follow up Pala – and an acclaimed debut album from The Asphodells in 2013’s Ruled By Passion Destroyed By Lust, the latest in a long line of classic releases from Andrew Weatherall’s own Rotters Golf Club label.

Recording took place between Weatherall’s Shoreditch studio, The Bunker, and Friendly Fires frontman Ed Macfarlane’s basement studio just a short stroll down the road in Farringdon, using a desk that once belonged to influential German producer Konrad ‘Conny’ Plank to mix the tracks.

The result is ‘Before Your Eyes’ and ‘Velo’ - two brand new tracks that take close to ten minutes each to reveal their full hypnotic glory. The tracks will be released as a AA-sided single on 12” and download and will be the inaugural release on Friendly Fires’ own Telophase label.

Jagjaguwar is excited to announce the release of the soundtrack to Panos Cosmatos'  Beyond The Black Rainbow on 9/02. This album will be available in the United States and digitally world-wide on Jagjaguwar and physically in Europe on Death Waltz Records. This supposed "lost film" from the 1980s is inspired by obscure sci-fi movies and classic dystopian fiction - watch the trailer here. Created by Sinoia Caves, the ongoing project of Jeremy Schmidt - a disciple of the long-form cosmic synthesizer soundscape, and member of Canadian psych-and-prog pioneers Black Mountain - the soundtrack draws on inspiration from Tangerine Dream, Wendy Carlos and John Carpenter. Schmidt artfully navigates the various sonic sensibilities of his predecessors, incoporating touchstones such as mellotron choirs, glacial analogue synthesizer pads and arpeggiators. The result is ominously beauitful, otherworldly and terrifying.
 
This mesmerizing effect is evident in "Forever Dilating Eye" the first track off of Beyond The Black Rainbow, which premiered this morning via The A.V. Club.

Apparat, aka Sascha Ring, will release “Krieg und Frieden (Music for Theatre)”, an album of music based on Sebastian Hartmann’s theatre production of Tolstoy’s War and Peace.

Sebastian Hartmann is considered one of the big innovators of contemporary German theatre, and asked Ring to contribute to this mammoth project, which was commissioned by the renowned German arts festival Ruhrfestspiele in Recklinghausen.
