Francesca Lombardo graces her very own Echoe imprint with an engrossing two tracker this week. The producer, noted for works on the likes of Crosstown Rebels and Berlin's Get Physical, styles a pair of scintillating cuts in  'Remembrance' and 'Never Too Far'.  The latter, which we have the pleasure of showcasing in full premiere today, centres around a tightly knit groove and a punchy drum ensemble. The surface is coated with an array of melodic touches, offering a fine collection of aural textures to envigorate. It's an evolving track that rolls in constant circles over a near nine minute trip.

welcome to the 146th chapter of the Deep Electronics Podcast. The weekly released podcast that brings you the best deep music. This weeks set is mixed by Antonio Vázquez. It took a while but I am very happy to welcome him to the this serie. He created a massive deep techno set  for this occassion. So take a seat and enjoy the ride!

Bio:

Antonio Vázquez is a dj and music producer from Seville (Spain) and based in Berlin since 2011.
He started in producing in 1998 and when he moved to Madrid two years later when he began to
play. There he had the chances to play in different bars and events, until he had the opportunity to
play at Cassette Club on the inauguration party and two times more. His style was always focused
on environmental and organic sounds, shifting sometimes on more minimalistic and electro tones.
The productions where always different styles because of his eclectic music taste and because he
made different works for advertisements and web sites.
But was when he arrived in Berlin and after meeting really inspiring friends, when he develop into
deep techno. And after his podcast for T_Mood, he experienced a really fast and increasing success.
Playing at ://about blank multiple times in different events, in Manchester at Komme, Pseucho Club
in Leipzig and specially he had the biggest chance to play three times at Berghain. After that he
played in many different places around Europe and in Berlin and his productions started to be
relased in Shaded Explorations, Hypnus Records and Semantica.
He is actually involved inside Hypnus Records preparing more productions and EP's.

“Herbicides Over Small Fields” just hits you. There’s no easing intro and no space to colour a welcome. From the frenzied birdsong to the ominous klaxon that mordantly sweeps over with the ruthless regularity of radar, this is a track wracked with incomprehension and an inescapable foreboding.

“When I was a small kid, I used to take long walks with a friend through the streets of my hometown Svetlovodsk,” Marc explains. We were strolling like the voyagers of middle Ages exploring the world and discovering something new. Back in those days I was extending the boundaries of my personal map of the world. I think that’s pretty common thing for human psychology.”

So born from a seemingly innocent trip out of his hometown, and seeing the equally innocuous spraying of herbicides, he created a gloomy future smothered by the chemical hiss of static and anxiety of the unknown.

“My parents often went for work to nearby towns and always took me with them,” he continues. “You can imagine how significant for me those trips were. Svetlovodsk itself is a quiet industrial town, at least it was at the time, but the surrounding territory is mainly an agricultural area on hilly relief and going there was like expeditions to something inexperienced and completely unknown.

“One day I saw airplanes manoeuvering up in the air. I asked my grandfather about what were they doing. He said that they were treating fields with something, most probably spraying herbicides. I didn’t know that word at the time and never heard it before, so I remember how some sort of fear or anxiety absorbed me and mysterious feelings wrapped me tightly. Something strange was happening in a place I barely knew and which I’ve just started to explore.”

Spine-chilling and suffocating, the malevolent use of industrial power against the purity of wildlife is brilliantly unsettling. Threatening in its wave-like consistency, “Herbicides Over Small Fields” ramps up the fear and paranoia but just as it threatens to overwhelm, the birdsong breaks through to melt the tension and remind you what home feels like. Chilling stuff.

“We were returning home and I was thinking about things I saw. Passing by the town ‘welcome’ board and the plant of pure metals we were already in the town. I realized that and felt easier. I think on that day the drawing of boundaries of my home was over.”
