Dédié à la création musicale, le GMEM est un outil de production musicale préoccupé par l’innovation artistique, les enjeux sociétaux et le partage avec les publics.

We organise experimental music, film and art events. We’ve been doing that since 2001. We’re interested in those artforms as ways of thinking, and as useful ways to engage with the world. We’re interested in how music and film can develop through interaction with radical practices in other disciplines: artistic and non-artistic alike.  

 
Some people have occasionally said nice things about our events. (Whilst not getting carried away), we’ve reproduced some of these here, so that you don't have to take our word for everything.
 
We’ve organised major events with organisations across the UK, incl.: Arnolfini (Bristol), The Arches (Glasgow), British Film Institute (London), Centre for Contemporary Arts (Glasgow), Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (Dundee), Dundee Contemporary Arts, Glasgow School of Art, ICA (London), Resonance 104.4 FM, The Sage Gateshead, Spike Island (Bristol), Tramway (Glasgow). And we’ve organised events in community spaces and non-arts locations across Scotland, e.g.: an oil tank in Orkney, megastructures in Cumbernauld, autonomous community spaces in Kinning Park and Dundee...  
 
We have and continue to be involved in practices that could variously be described as DIY, experimental, underground or autonomous.  We talk about, support and undertake this kind of work, whilst paying for this through public funding.  We’ve decided to do this so that we can be involved in things that maybe make a bigger impact, without having to rely on any commercial income. We are not for profit.

Jena Jang is a South Korean audiovisual artist, experimental musician, DIY instrument builder, and performance-based researcher based in Prague, Czechia. Their multidisciplinary practice centres on trauma healing through the intensity of live performance, focusing on the circulation of energy between artist and audience, building affective connections with non-human beings, and musically interpreting organic structures found in nature.

WHAT IS DIM...?
Digital instrumentation music, or DIM, is experimental music in which musical instruments produce sounds digitally rather than acoustically. This digitalisation process allows sounds to be modified and enriched through treatments and modulations.

of language within its multi faceted forms / words-based free associations / vocal improvisation on textual content either written by me either found / multilingual imaginative universe diverse in idioms, gestures and glossolalias / voicescaping /of monologues & free flux of consciousness / most of my recordings are taken in the very moment — rarely i rehearse something before recording process.

besides a visual arts and writing practice, i’ve started making vocal recordings around 2014 as a way to explore meditative processes, altered states and self-healing methods. 

calling it music would reduce my making to that very organised form which is not, therefore I'd rather prefer to call it sound in its broadest and most amplified sense. 

poetry, free improvisation, polyvocalities, both analog and/or softsynths, acoustic guitar, a broken off-key violin or whatever could be object of sound.
