From the years of my teenage grunge rock band Two Five Burn was spawned a series of several offshoots. That outfit's bassist Adam Young had seen to it to keep the flame of our project alive by creating his own one, Balance Inc. It would do its best and hence culminate in the inspiration that went into my own offering. Said project was a series of songs that were developed over one or two years and recorded by former Two Five Burn guitarist at his Burnt Oak studio. Said project went by my own name, Daniel Best, and was 'widely' admired (among my mum and dad). 

But later, while Balance Inc went from strength to strength and the years ground on, Two Five Burn were to reunite, this time with new drummer, Andrew Howard. They played just one come back show at the Many Cultures One Community Kentish Town Street Festival in 2013. Not long after, the band split once again, this time due to a conflict of commitment about Andrew, and Adam left to continue his own work. Meanwhile, the remaining members of Two Five Burn agreed to call their band Schizubishi. The latter band were able to record several songs before Andrew moved to Australia, and the band never played again. 

But while there have been suggestions that Schizubishi are simply Two Five Burn without their bassist, some would argue that Schizubishi took a completely different direction, being mainly influenced by the work of Frank Black and his many guises as opposed to Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden and Nirvana. 

Perhaps directly influenced by Frank Black's approach to being in different groups according to different styles, Daniel Best took the dissipation of Schizubishi to branch out into a new direction that would employ the use of new recording techniques enabling me to include drum beats and piano, with listenable results. Welcome in The Oocytes!!

Daniel Best, i.e. me, is the drummer of Coach Hop, which is a solo project the brainchild of Charlie Lawrence.
