Marcel, the real name under the moniker ‘whø?’(@who22), is a DJ based in Berlin who is behind our 4Oth N2MU podcast . This novel artist defines himself as a music lover and vinyl addict;  he made his debut as a producer last year and is already making his way in the electro scene thanks to his genre-defying interests combined with curiosity, a passion for collecting music and a good feeling to build a set.  All these vital pillars are noticeable in this cracking podcast which offers expertly-melded electro with glimpses of acid and subtle breaks. All in all, what any electro lover needs to revel in a superb set. Enjoy it!

For this episode, we are delighted to present you an original mix created for us by that extraordinary producer known as El Búho. His ability to blend natural tones and traditional South American motifs with electronic beat grew along the past 9 years and is now renowned. The resulting music creates magical soundscapes, it feels like having a night walk in a forest, the air is filled with the buzz of the creatures swarming around, fireflies sparkle in the dark. Although El Búho’s acoustics are painted in vivid colours, this mix is inspired by Winter. It all begun on a cloudy day in one of those “hobbit-esque” villages in Northern England. You can imagine him sitting by the window, watching the clouds being pushed on by the wind, while the fire burns slow in the stove. There, the artist found inspiration and recorded many of the impressions that we can now listen to on this beautiful mix. The rain tapping on the ground, jackdaws cawing, crunchy leaves being caressed by the wind… Those organic sounds, so familiar and yet so ethereal, they free your mind and might let you fly to imaginary locations. They're able to evoke bygone memories or make us dream of new places to explore. From there, the mix develops along the Winter and welcomes the upcoming Spring. So now open your heart, feel this delicate sound touching it and unleash your imagination to let your mind travel to your own peaceful place.

For Franco, music is one of life’s vital necessities, granting him intimate access to higher states of consciousness. The sounds are deep and rich, underpinned by sprawling geographies and ancient narratives. Soft syncopations pulsate forward, as tinges of electronica seep into a landscape of organics and flora. 

Franco comes from a long lineage of family musicians, imbued with the sound of music since the beginning. Exploration of truly eclectic and divergent influences spanning krautrock, free jazz, psychedelia, experimental rock and many more, resulted in experimenting with various forms of music practices. His deeply spiritual relationship with music nurtures the worldly sounds emanating from his creativity, a balanced aesthetic that is guided by trust and the relinquishing of predetermined outcomes. The result is a space of dreamtime liminality and subtle ceremonial motifs.

With bright beams of sunshine, birds start to sing / The forest awakens, a new day begins!
Below tramples Crocodile, Dino at side / The kaleidoscope leaves casting prisms of light
They push on ahead, for they mustn’t be late / A brand new adventure simply can’t wait

But sometimes adventures can lead to strange places/ Sun disappears, and the weirdest of faces/
Loom from the shadows, a darkness within/ A twist in your tummy, the walls closing in/
Our two brave explorers, with widening eyes/ See the jungle hiss back, a thousand red eyes

But wait –

From the shadows, a cold silver tear/ A spaceship abandoned by lost pioneers
The friends know at once that they must get inside/ They yank and they crank till the door opens wide
But how does it work? Can it get to the sky?/ The answer is here – a button says ‘FLY’
They strap themselves in as the instruments ping/ The spaceship unfolding its silvery wings
They look at each other, all engines a-hum / Time becomes lightyears, adventure begun!
