Hey friends, today I would like to announce that  my new single "Im Traum wird Geschlafen" will be available on all platforms. I started working on this track two years ago after I got a mandolin as a birthday gift from my dear friend.

It's a very old instrument with some scars here and there, but it still has so much soul in it. The thing about real instruments is that they are physical. When you play a note, you can feel the vibrations in your fingers. That's something I really miss in electronic instruments like synths or software instruments. 

„Im Traum wird Geschlafen“ will be the most organic track I've ever released. With many small mistakes and moments where the rhythm is not perfectly on the grid. With lots of little scars like my old mandolin.

Instead of imitating, I drew inspiration from the genre to create something fresh. HOLOGRAPHIC blends elements of synthwave, cyberwave, slap house and cinematics, resulting in a powerful track filled with energy but with an emotional undertone that's always prevalent in my music. New album coming in Jan. 2020. This piece is an improvisation on a looped phrase. This is also accompanied by a Tibetan (Himalayan) singing bowl in 936 tuning (234) as well as gong and percussion. The repetitive nature of the accompaniment supports the improvisatory melody.  Ajna is the sanskrit name for the third eye Chakra. The third eye chakra is considered by some to be the pineal gland. The pineal regulates our circadian rhythms and produces melatonin, as well as other chemicals.  It is theorized that the pineal may also produce the psychedelic chemical “DMT”, which may be responsible for mystical states. In addition to being produced naturally, DMT is also found in the Amazonian psychedelic brew “Ayahuasca”.  Studies have shown that music therapy can also stimulate melatonin production.

“The Storm” in the title, Vella explains, refers to the dark period in human history that we are currently experiencing and the accompanying personal anxieties; “Sleeping Through” is surviving it, a moment of personal protection while the turbulence rages around us. It is neither ambient nor electronic music, instead Vella is exploring a form of analogue synthesis that balances light and dark.

The eight tracks were mostly built live, looping and layering a single performance, pushing repetition and patterns - exploratory, cellular variations on a theme, lyrical songs that say something without lyrics. For the most part, Sleep Through the Storm is an expression of sadness and lament, but it is proof that there can be harmony and consonance in misery.

It was a lot of fun and a real honor to feature vocal contributions from my friends Theo and Amma (Entheo - https://soundcloud.com/entheo), as well as Theo's guitar and a few percussive samples from my friend Jules O'Keefe.

I haven't given out a new free track in a while, and I think this is a breakthrough and a new direction for me, so I am going out on a limb and allowing this tune to spread how it may, in good faith that it will touch as many lives as possible.
