What are the differences and similarities between human and artificial sound, between oscillations generated by vocal cords and synthesizer voices, voltage amplified by speakers? On Silencio, his latest album for Tresor Records, Moritz von Oswald works with a 16-voice choir to explore this concept. 

Drawing from the ensemble works of long-standing inspirations Edgard Var&egrave;se, Gy&ouml;rgy Ligeti and Iannis Xenakis, von Oswald and Vocalconsort Berlin delve into the space between sounds, creating a deeply textured collection that shifts between light &amp; ethereal and dark &amp; dissonant. 

As masterfully demonstrated in the early work of von Oswald and Mark Ernestus' influential Basic Channel project, repetition and reduction are key elements here, much in the tradition of techno and minimalism. The vast dynamism of the human voice adds to the profound weight of electronics while offering up a rhythmic source and sonic noise palette unexplored in von Oswald's repertoire. In Silencio, von Oswald dredges a dank murk, pulling clouds over a distant pulse. It hangs, ready to take on new forms. 

The compositions were written in von Oswald's Berlin studio on classic synthesizers, such as the EMS VCS3 &amp; AKS, Prophet V, Oberheim 4-Voice and the Moog Model 15. These abstract recordings were transcribed to sheet music for choir by Berlin-based Finnish composer and pianist, Jarkko Riihim&auml;ki and performed by Vocalconsort Berlin in &Ouml;lberg church in the city's Kreuzberg district, only few metres down the road from where Dubplates &amp; Mastering and Hard Wax opened their doors for music enthusiasts for many years so long. 

The recordings of the choral versions were then incorporated into the synthesized parts of the album and brought into anew electronic context; in Silencio, the focus is not on using one means to imitate the other, but to sonically discuss the tensions and harmonies between the two worlds and create a dialogue between them. 

The relationship between von Oswald and Tresor Records goes back thirty years, all the way to Blake Baxter's Dream Sequence in 1991 - which von Oswald engineered alongside Thomas Fehlmann. The collaboration with Fehlmann lived on, seeing the duo team up as 3MB with Eddie Fowlkes or Juan Atkins. More recently, the Detroit-Berlin connection continued as Juan Atkins &amp; Moritz von Oswald present Borderland. 

For von Oswald, Tresor Records and also the participating guest musicians of the choir, this release brings together audiences from other musical areas, cross-pollinating; Silencio is an album that stands for itself beyond the musical genre boundaries.

Jordi Giráldez aka lendl, es un dj y productor de Bilbao. Es el creador del club de techno Cemento y residente del mismo junto a Linbo. También dirige el podcast de techno 4 16 32 en Audiotalaia.
Lendl, con el alias Ghost Dog, fue residente del club Arrebato de Bilbao entre 2000 y el 2003. Es reconocido por sus sets de techno oscuro e introspectivo, y ha actuado en cabinas de toda la península como el Sónar en Barcelona, Gare en Oporto, Florida 135 en Fraga, JimmyJazz en Gasteiz, Intramuros en Sevilla o Tesla en León.
Ha publicado trabajos en sellos como Larraskito (EUS) o los belgas Load & Clear (BE) y Kopp (BE) con su proyecto de drone cuatrojos.
Fue el director y presentador del programa Sismógrafo en Radio3 (RNE) entre 2008 y 2012, centrado en sonidos electrónicos de vanguardia.
En 2012, comisarió uno de los recopilatorios de música experimental más importantes editados hasta la fecha, escala 2.3 (Escala). Un triple álbum que contó con la participación de artistas como Francisco López, Kenneth Kirschner, Pascal Savy, Hakobune, Yui Onodera o Fabio Orsi, entre otros.
Recientemente, en 2022, comisarió y coprodujo Grains on the Floor (Toroide, 2022), un doble álbum de remezclas del álbum Grains (Sevendipia Récords, 2021) de Teslaradio, con la participación de más de 20 productores de todo el país, nombres como Ylia, Judy, Okkre, Structweird, Az Rotator, Rec_Overflow o Suero.

After his notable debut on Submersive's VA Osmotic Particles in 2021, Toki Fuko makes a captivating return with his first solo release on the label. 'Hues of Movement' comprises three original tracks and two remixes by Anthony Linell and Artefakt, embodying Submersive's ethos of a deep, hypnotic journey into organic yet dancefloor-ready Techno.

In the three original tracks, Toki Fuko once again mesmerizes with his evolving soundscapes. Electrical pulses are enhanced with expansive reverbs and woven into groovy drum sequences. The tracks gradually evolve, reminiscent of a drop of ink dispersing in water, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in the sound and lose control as they become one with the music.

Anthony Linell, who performed at Submersive’s inaugural party in Paris in 2017, offers a Train remix that seamlessly bridges his signature style with Toki Fuko's sound. The track emerges like a living entity, combining dub-influenced meditative atmospheres with ecstatic elements, growing into a full-length auditory experience.

Artefakt rounds off the release with their 'Warble' remix, taking listeners into depths where light cannot penetrate. The Dutch duo presents a darker take, subtly manipulating elements and maintaining high tension, keeping the end of this sonic adventure tantalizingly out of sight.

Accompanying the EP is artwork by Swiss-Moroccan artist Zineb Mezzour, offering a fresh interpretation of the concepts of surface and water that Submersive explores in each release. Known for her intricate work on paper and ceramics that evoke a microscopic, organic, and spiritual world, Zineb has performed a unique visual for this vinyl. She began by drawing invisible shapes in water, then brought them to life by adding ink that transformed into unpredictable fractal shapes. This artistic process was captured to create both the cover and the video teaser for the EP.

Hannay Vision aka. HV2000 is a Producer and DJ from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Hannay Vision is also co-founder of the Newcastle based label and event ‘Raw Material’ which was established in late 2019.

Inspired by the idea of what 1960s-80s future would look like with flying cars, Robots helping us to progress for the perfect society. Giving his music a futuristic utopian feel. As we progress through time, the future looks a lot darker. Machines are taking over allowing very little human interaction. This is where the inspiration for the more minimal alias HV2000 comes into play. Machine music with human touch.

the concept remains consistent: трип label head nina kraviz announces the stream and invites artists to send their unreleased music; all genres are appreciated. after the stream is recorded, the favourite tracks are signed and, subsequently, the next hot steel compilation is released.
previous editions were recorded in moscow, mykonos and the gobi desert; this time taking place on the beautiful plains of mendoza in argentina. among the vineyards and endless skies, nina mixed together tracks from both emerging and established musicians. hot steel round 4 reflects the spirit of the place where it was recorded; it highlights south american artists alongside
