Simon Reynold's first coined the term "hardcore continuum" to conceptualise music that came out of the UK's rave scene (https://www.thewire.co.uk/in-writing/essays/the-wire-300_simon-reynolds-on-the-hardcore-continuum_introduction). I am a child of that continuum, and I love making mixes that span it as much as possible, from the slow tribal sounds of djrum to stop-start 2-step garage riddims to jittery footwork beats and (quite literally in this mix) back again.

This is my first conscious attempt to encapsulate the variety of the rave music that I love, hence part 1. I want to make more in the future and hell, if any promoter is reading this, I would love to play sets like this.

Discrete Explorations of the Hardcore Continuum - Part 1

Who is "Gobs", and why are they from "de BXL"? To ask this question is to fundamentally misunderstand what Gobs, inter alia, de BXL, is. Gobs is an emotion unsaid, an idea not thought and a force of nature. It's getting up at 5 in the morning only to nap at 10. It's getting the munchies but being too lazy to obtain food. It's that guilty pleasure you get from writing about yourself in the third person.

Mainly though Gobs de BXL is a Drum & Bass producer from Brussels, and a sick one at that (just ask my friends).
