Renowned for their genre defying sonic adventures into mesmeric sun-scorched psychedelic soundscapes, hypnotic fuzzed string riffery, rumbling percussion and their growling preacher man vocal sermons, The Jonny Halifax Invocation now offer up a deliciously sweat dripping groove of heavy cosmic gospel in their latest lyrical imaginings of this dystopian soap opera.

“Dead Swamp Hula” emerges from the oleaginous blackness with a lurching greasy funk groove and the filthiest of bass lines, attaching to all in it’s path…the trademark Invocation killer riff wraps around the rudder and steers, as duelling harmonica and saxophone dance with the spirits around the last beat poet of the apocalypse stream of consciousness sermon. “Dead Swamp Hula” is the last sweat drenched mutant danse macabre at the end of civilisation as we may know it. A cautionary imagining of the last great environmental disaster. The creeping black tar dead swamp end game of laissez-faire neo liberalist capital and it’s inevitability of societal collapse. The sweetest nightmare you hope you might never have….

On the flip side, The Invocation’s own sonic shaman, Chris Rotter (Two Lone Swordsmen) releases the restless spirits and fans the flames in his hallucinogenic dub re-working; “Swamp Ghost Dub (Rotter Remix)”.
