Melbourne breaksmonger Ekzander returns with the new EP Overexposure that goes from manic to monstrous. He comes in the company of fantastic creatures with remixes by Fairie (Melbourne), Mincy (Sydney, Extra Spicy) and Sam Alfred (Melbourne).

HYPNOBODY

Hypnobody vibrates and draws you in with a magnetic contrast. Soaked vocals and melancholic chords bring in the rain over twitching bass and heavy breaks. A metaphor for the struggle between fear and yearnings of the heart.

OVEREXPOSURE

Title track Overexposure dominates the dancefloor with techno motifs and spoken word on the dance between indulgence and discomfort in the club. Pessimistic tones ring in panic over enormous thundering kicks in this grungy post-club anthem. 

RETRIPPED

Closing out is the wicked combination of breakbeat and footwork: Retripped. Icy PS1 synths arpeggiate over breaks a la Soichi Terada before cutting into wild twerk bass and catchy chopped vocals.

HYPNOBODY (FAIRIE’S BOUNCY MIX)

Fairie twists anxiety into madness in her Bouncy Mix of Hypnobody, featuring gorgeous otherworldly vocals scattered over warped drums for a multidimensional feel.

OVEREXPOSURE (MINCY REMIX)

Mincy lets darkness into Overexposure and produces an unforgiving hard club take on the original - feel the dread take over and morph you into acid goo.

RETRIPPED (SAM ALFRED REMIX)

Sam Alfred delivers a groovy speed garage remix of closing track Retripped. With chirps in an alien language and slide synths that take you straight to Mars, you'll feel right at home in the club when you're locked in to this.

Charged with a juxtaposition between feverish peak time and dreamy downbeat, the producer here displays a sonic palette which is as eerie as it is advanced.

On ’remember this body?’ Cleyra offers a kaleidoscopic view of their diverse approach to crafting songs, nourished with a deep, emotional and seductive energy. Across five tracks we take a deep dive into Cleyra’s idiosyncratic worlds. Subdued pads carry us through lucid-dream-inducing soundscapes where strangeness and elegance go hand in hand. Then come playful twists, as a harder side to their sound is unleashed, engineered to alight the sweatiest and most mutant of dancefloors.

On the flip side, Cleyra takes listeners on a breathtaking ride over the course of a 17-minute epic ’There Is Nothing Happening Between Us’, navigating between mournful ambience and heads-down pulsating Techno with a grace and delicateness rarely heard. The track fades before bringing things home with lush, dubbed-out, synths, suspending time with a poignant elegance.

The skies began to open up once more as the darkness began to shrink and fade away. It left behind a clear day, one in which they could gaze out upon the landscape which had been concealed and hidden beneath fog and despair for far too long.

The meadows were green once more, the radiance of the sunlight illuminating their emerald glaze with vigour and elegance.

There was something restorative about it all – as if some sort of strange magic had been cast to herald in the dawn of a new day in all its grace and might.

Wandering through the tall reeds, she watched as she took in a world which had been barren for far too long.

Mysterious duo Advent Children are remixed by another as Salamanda reimagine the sound of ‘Restoration Meadows’ creating an ethereal dreamy soundscape which offers promise for the birth of a new enlightened world.
