We also wanted to say a massive thank you to Fetish House for being so accommodating throughout the entire process of this shoot. Fetish house is the only building in Victoria that was specifically constructed to be a brothel catering to the spicier side of life. It was an awesome experience.

'Bennet is a DJ based in Hannover, who merges oldskool house records, early progressive house and trance synths with breaks and early rave hymns. Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community 
Hmm, I would say be inspired by and connect with other people, nature, life , parties or whatever gets you going, exploring different avenues, but always be true to your own individual sound. The more you make, the more you dance, and the more you mix your sound will find you. Do what makes you happy, practice, dig for your life, and if you work hard enough your time will come bbz. Take time to have fun with your friends ! Coz at the end of the day, that’s all that is really guaranteed in this fickle industry, without selling your soul of course ! And ask yourself, is this for love or money? Money ofc can bring happiness and stability, but shared experiences are worth more. Learn to really love yourself and put your mental health first.

❁ Something else I would like to highlight is HEARING PROTECTION! ! ! ! !  
I absolutely recommend getting moulded hearing protection coz the club is sometimes just too damn loud. Let’s make the most of life and what we have, and if you’re blessed with hearing I suggest you cherish it and look after it. You can get cute funky colours and they will become a cute raving accessory. Its also way easier to hear your friends in the club and you won’t need to shout. It means you can enjoy the subs and be closer to the speakers safely. I have a dear friend who is suffering currently and it affects a lot more than just your precious ears lemme tell you.  This doesn’t just apply to DJs, anyone working in a club, or raving. PLEASE !  Theres something in London, the Musicians’ Hearing Health Scheme, which some people are lucky enough to benefit from, give it a go, its mega discounted, but even if it isn’t.. Treat yourself. SMUT Press is delighted to present our 25th mix by the incredible Mercorn.  A deep love of hard house, prog and trance form the backbone of her sound, where these styles fuelled Ireland throughout its formative 90’s rave heyday, Mercorn’s sound is characterised by the soaring basslines and giddy snare rolls from that era and her careful selection always cultivates an unmatched fizzing, brimming energy. Offsetting the brisk winter days this mix was influenced by the sound of hot sexy summer and captures her signature euphoric energy. Expect deep percussive riffs and fab vocals, this is one that will keep you coming back for more! 

Mercorn is a Dublin-based dj and a lifetime member of the rave. She trades exclusively in dancefloor transcendence who embodies the psychedelic lifeblood of Irish rave history through her joyous selections, vivacious spirit and also as a member of collectives Tender and Skin&Blister.  Over the last few years her rise has been steadily building with notable attention around the UK and Europe from some of London’s most celebrated queer parties such as Adonis at The Cause, Big Dyke Energy at Venue MOT and Fast & Bi-Furious at Dalston Superstore while also at home in some of Ireland’s best clubs such as Yamamori Tengu, Wigwam, Index. Mixes for Haŵs and Proxima further her impressive cause. Aside from djing, Mercorn is an active community builder in her hometown of Dublin. This is most prevalent in her membership of collectives Skin&Blister and Tender. Both collectives have been instrumental in diversifying Ireland’s music landscape in both clubs and at festivals.  She is also a pioneering independent designer with her MNW Design business, individually handcrafting each item of clothing she sells.
