Passing Interval

Existing on a sphere of bliss, encapsulated infinitely and static in time. There were no wounds or blisters, no pain or grief, only lightness and deeply embedded fearlessness. Darkness left long ago and the fragility of the core had succumbed to peace and linearity. There was no future nor past to dwell on, only changeless clarity and joy. Fluctuations ceased and the notion of future issues or complications were inconceivable from a mind filled with such delight, all had become frozen in purity.

Next up for Bristol's Banoffee Pies Records is Number One Slugger, five precisely crafted tracks by Nikki Nair, hailing from Knoxville, Tennessee. The track in focus is ‘Salt’, perfectly seasoned and with plenty of unique flavourings from start to finish. ‘Salt’ slowly burns and grooves with its deeply swung hat patterns, heavy kicks and tripped out vocals.

Meda Fury are so gassed to welcome back Silvestre with a virtual hug and a 5 track EP of new jams and remix fire!

The Lisbon boy done good has been enjoying some well earned praise for his last few releases - his '...is boss EP' on Secretsundaze, 'Girar' on Diskotopia, and 'Yeah' via yours truly. Gigs in Amsterdam, Bristol, Porto, London and Lisbon followed - including his debut on Boiler Room. 

'Todos Bem' starts as an organ led scratch-fest, with a tight auto-tune vocal from Silvestre himself, before mutating into an anthemic/hedonistic 303 acid and whistle banger! This euphoric string-laden track equally at home in Ibiza or Notting  Hill Carnival! 'Paga O Que Deves' is up next; Joao's love of grime and UK bass culture is evident from the drop, twisted synths and breaks recall everyone from Eastman to Digital Mystikz.
On the flip we find serious remix pressure from Silvestre's friends and contemporaries - the Lisbon crew of Príncipe! DJ Firmeza is up first, pushing the tempo way up on 'Yeah', turning it into a banging kuduro rave monster, propulsive batida drums upping the temperature. DJ Lilocox follows with an intense remix of 'Demónios Na Cabeça', converting it into a percussive trancey big-room track. Layers of mixed afro/gqom drums follow a strict samba-like rhythm forcing hands and possibly the ceiling higher.

He sat surrounded by gadgets and gizmos, by fineries and bespoke garments, nothing was too expensive for this man. Yet despite having everything a person could ever want, a smile never appeared on his face. Materialistic things were of no concern to him, the only thing he was missing was something that couldn't be bought. 

2020 has proved a busy year for Kyoto-based producer and NC4K boss Stones Taro, having already taken his fresh take on breaks and UKG to labels like YAM Records' BAM offshoot and Scuffed Records, for whom he released his debut EP back in 2017. Now he lands on London's Highball Records, taking charge of their third release with 'Pump', a collection of four playful, energetic tracks that cement Taro's knack for pushing forward the electronic sounds that preceded him into new territories.

Fly By Night welcome PanicMan (@panicman1993) to the roster with his track Raw Hits as part of the FBN005 compilation. Following up his killer debut EP on @omertarecords0224, which garnered support from Emerald & Jossy Mitsu on Rinse amongst others, PanicMan brings his stripped back breaks-centred approach to FBN with Raw Hits. Choppy breaks and a pulsating sub contribute to a solid track from the Brighton-based producer, who is emerging as one to watch for 2021.

Fly By Night are excited to announce FBN005, an 8-track V/A with all profits going to Centrepoint, a charity which supports over 14,000 homeless young people every year providing housing and mental & physical health support. Locked Up contains 8 exciting producers ranging from breakbeat, electro & bass, all contributing their interpretation of a year being spent locked inside. From artists ranging from Birmingham to Brighton, Angers to Copenhagen, the V/A is yet another strong release from Fly By Night to round off what has been a long 2020 in which the label have been picking up the pace.
