Welcome to The Mixtape Museum (MXM)’s home on Soundcloud. MXM is an archive project dedicated to rescuing, preserving and sharing vintage DJ-mixes, particularly those originally distributed on analog mediums, i.e., compact cassette. These analog recordings, some of which are over two decades old are deteriorating and in danger of being lost forever. Our belief is that these analog recordings are records of time and should be handled as artifacts. We’re talking about mixes from DJ icons like, DJ Hollywood, Brucie B, Kid Capri, and more. Many of the mixtapes featured are ripped from compact cassette and will include a Side A and Side B, additionally the sound quality is not digital, and may include that cassette tape hiss similar to that of the vinyl pop and crackle. Embrace the hiss!

Iron Sheikh   - Born and raised in the gritty streets of the South Bronx.  Sheik developed his MC skills while growing up under  pioneers like Kool Keith, Lord Finesses, and Showbiz & AG.  Sheikh’s first exposure to the music industry was working as part of the street team at Wild Pitch for Kool Keith’s album The Four Horsmen .   Sheikh as a young man  unfortunately succumbed to the temptations of street life and served 10 years upstate.  While he was away on an up North bid he further developed through battling and became well known in the prison system. On returning home to New York City Iron Sheik began battling in Fight Klub as well as Loaded Lux’s Lions Den. Sheikh dropped several mixtapes  and albums and worked the underground circuit within NYC performing at End of The Weak, Training Camp and more.  He has songs  with Kool Keith Planet Asia, Mickey Factz, Mysonne, Oun P, A-Mafia , Bizarre of D-12.   Iron Sheik has also appeared on Vlad TV as well as Shade 45’s Toca Tuesdays with Tony Touch and Sway in the Morning.  Now Iron Sheik returns with seminal album entitled Black Adam (Carnage)
