I don’t remember the gig. I don’t remember much of anything really, just me and the band and all these people asking if we need another drink. You’d say no thanks and find the shot already in your hand. My kind of people. Last night in Little Rock put me in a haze!! Ha ha. That jukebox was going all night, playing all the hits. We must’ve taken something, right? A dozen rounds deep but nobody felt tired. Nobody fought, nobody puked. We just danced. There’s a picture of me and the bartender hugging and crying, a real powerful image. One of those nights where you could yell anything and get a laugh. So we yelled.

Vanity Productions is the intently brooding solo project of Posh Isolation co-founder Christian Stadsgaard. In distinction to his chaotic raving kru performances with The Empire Line, and the cathartic severity of Damien Dubrovnik with fellow label co-founder Loke Rahbek, Vanity Productions reserves space for Stadsgaard's innermost dialogues and vulnerabilities.

 

Where his previous album gave a highly personal yet cold report, this latest work indulges in a balmy pleasure that takes in the world around it with abandon. 'Only The Stars Come Out At Night' is presented as a reflection of life in the city during warm summer nights. Stargazing, ecstasy, early evening dreaming, chilled intoxication, languid lust—we're getting the fine detail of experiences that have left their anxieties behind. Nonetheless managing pensive moments, the granular shoegaze that Stadsgaard works up still certainly articulates a breed of melancholy. It's as if 'Only The Stars Come Out At Night' is leaning into a particular kind of heartbreak that isn't ever going to arrive in the night; it's the bittersweet arrival of dawn which signals the loss of night. This is cosmic heartbreak.

 

'Only The Stars Come Out At Night' is presented in multiple forms. There are three videos that contain the release as its soundtrack. Directed by Anastasia Sif Karkazis, these meditate on scenes of nature, industry and technology, and the architecture that traces the edge of each. A digital release on all platforms will be also be available as of today.
