Working as a location sound recordist for film, doc and commercial. But my favourite is collecting the sounds of nearby place. Urban to suburban, past to the future.

In February 1999, three longtime friends from West Texas went to a pizza place in Austin, Texas, for a prearranged meeting with a young man from Illinois. The Illinoisan had just moved to Austin, and he had put up a flyer that caught the interest of the others. They ate pizza and discussed movies and arcana. They also decided to meet the next day with their various instruments (two guitars, bass, and drums). This happened, and over the coming months they picked a band name, then picked a better band name, then wrote and recorded an album. That album, called How Strange, Innocence, was largely out of tune, but the band members didn't really notice at the time. They optimistically printed 300 copies, and gave most of them away. It turned out they really liked playing together, so they kept doing so. A friend of theirs sent a recording of one of their live shows to a record label in Baltimore, and that label offered to put out albums for the band. The band agreed.

The goal for the SoundWorks Collection is simple; we are dedicated to profiling the greatest and upcoming sound minds from around the world and highlight their contributions. The SoundWorks Collection was created by Director Michael Coleman in November of 2009 in a partnership with MIX Magazine, several audio focused college schools and programs, and the support of the online sound community worldwide.

The SoundWorks Collection takes you behind the scenes and straight to the dub stage for a look into audio post-production for feature films, video game sound design, and original soundtrack composition. This exclusive and intimate video series focuses on individuals and teams behind-the-scenes bringing to life some of the worlds most exciting projects.

ROTH BART BARON is a indie rock band based in Tokyo, Japan.
ROTH BART BARON ’s music is influenced by modern rock and folk music in particular. The band’s song has beautiful melody and attractive arrangement, with incredibly impressive Japanese lyrics. 1st album “The Ice Age” (2014) was recorded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with Brian McTear (Kurt Vile, the War on Drugs) as co-producer and mix engineer Jonathan Low (The National, Sufjan Stevens). The album was selected among best albums of the year by a number of music media. The Sci-fi inspired second album “ATOM” was recorded at the God Speed You! Black Emperor's studio “Hotel2tango” in Montreal, Canada, with domestic local musicians.
Following the success of their first two albums “The Ice Age” (2014) and “ATOM” (2015), the band performed on big music festivals including “SUMMER SONIC”, “FUJI ROCK Festival” in Japan.
The band launched a crowdfunding campaign in 2017 and supporters helped to achieve the goal with time to spare. They went to London with the funding to work with Bradley Spence (ALT-J, Kasabian) and Alexander Beitzke (James Arthur, Florence + the Machine) in studio.
They also held "US-Tour 2014”, ”ASIA TOUR 2016”, and appeared at ”Big Mountain Music Festival '15" in Thailand, and "PLAYTIME FESTIVAL ’16" in Mongolia. Masaya Mifune, the vocal guitarist, performed an attractive stage at the Tokyo show of a “Celebration David Bowie 2017” world tour in February 2017.
New music video “ATOM” directed by Julia Schönstädt is released on 13 September 2017. The story started from wood cottage in a beautiful forest, and went all the way to the coastal area in Brighton. The band members also acted in the clip.
