Such hauntingly beautiful lyrics — ‘You’ll be my voice, I’ll be your flame’ gave me chills. The emotion and unity in this song are pure magic. ✨🔥🎶

ABOUT

This track has been on the back burner for a (very!) long time and started out as an outline composition in support of a short film, about a reincarnated witch.   As it turned out the film didn’t happen, but the song continued to evolve, and somewhere along the way got renamed to Selene!

It’s a song about two women, separated across time, and could follow several different themes: haunting, possession, reincarnation or perhaps love.. I'll leave you to decide..It touches on separation and isolation, the power of connections and perhaps a life rebuilt, for both the songs characters.

I’ve been very fortunate to be ably assisted in creating this track, by two fantastic pro musicians; Glenn Welman, on drums, and an absolute POWERHOUSE soprano vocal performance from Marion Schneider (Mioune) Without their talent, innovation and, in Marion’s case, a ton of advice, Selene would not be the track it is!  Thanks should also go to Joseph, at JREL Music Studio, Oklahoma City, whose mastering skills put the finishing touches to a track that I really am pleased with!  Thanks a million guys!

Selene

This song is about being trapped between memory and release — the impossible weight of carrying every mistake, loss, and truth that time refuses to wash away. It’s me confronting the ghosts I’ve built inside myself, knowing they anchor me as much as they drown me. The song moves through grief, guilt, and the desperate hope for redemption, even when freedom feels like betrayal to the past. Every verse is a mirror of endurance and self-punishment — a soul chained to what it can’t forget, still reaching for light through the cracks.

This song is my personal victory cry. It’s about surviving everything meant to break me, turning pain into power, and realizing the universe itself celebrates that strength. Every scar is proof that I made it — and every beat in this song is me saying, I’m still here… and I’m shining brighter than ever.

i was inspired by the New Orleans street funeral to create this. I've tried to emulate the same structure, with the first sad, mournful section eventually leading to a joyous and ecstatically frenzied celebration of thanks to the spirits for the life of the Deceased.

What a great place Soundcloud is !  I can honestly say I never imagined there were so many talented and generous artists, composers and producers,  to be found in one place!  It's been my very great pleasure to meet and collaborate with some of you, already, out there in the WWW,  and I hope many more in the future! 

I've written and recorded music since I was a teenager  (... that's a long time ago!!) and about half the tracks posted here are purely my own work. I also experimented, for a while,  with A.I. supported music, which I used to help build up a Sci Fi "concept album" (for those that remember them!) titled "Stories of Stardust", released 26th Feb 2025.  

A.I music can be a divisive topic, but I've no wish to use it as a replacement for human musical talent, and going forward I'm back to  working  with real people again. That's where the magic is to be found!  Which brings me to....

Collab is ALWAYS welcome!!  In fact it's my favourite way to work - check out my Collabs playlist for some recent examples!  Really enjoyed working with these talented artists!!
