Berlin's Micropacer makes his return to Exploited Club - following releases on Kendal's Ritmo Fatale, Johannes Albert's Frank Music and Cormac's Polari with 3 slices of pure, unadulterated joy. 

'Splash' kicks off, oozing with sass as an irresistible Italo bass struts along with a square edged heel. Rousing strings swell as a giddy tension bubbles towards a hairs-on-the-neck breakdown that pops to rapturous effect. Synths sparkle, while chopped vocals adorn the melody. All the while that bass maintains its swagger until the end. 

'Foreign Affairs' follows up with more early 80s flair. Here, a fervid piano riff takes the limelight as it shifts through heartstring chords, rubbing sweaty shoulders with stabs and a vocoder. Filters dip the piano as it sinks towards another jubilant drop. 

'Schöne Zeit' closes things up with more bright, spicy drums. The Disco kit kicks in all the right places, propelling another gorgeous tapestry of sound built from swirling tones and sunbeam stabs. Another breakdown unfolds with pure peak-time energy, giving way to flurry of serotonin rounding off a pack of reliable, retro bangers aimed directly under the disco ball.

Prepare to be transported into a realm of sonic enchantment with the forthcoming release from Berlin's renowned Iptamenos Discos. Boys’ Shorts, the dynamic queer duo hailing from Greece, comprised of Vangelis (formerly of LAGASTA) and London based Tareq, are set to unveil their EP 'Something To Forget' accompanied by captivating remixes from Gabe Gurnsey and Whitesquare.

Following their successful ‘New Era’ EP which was on high rotation on Berlin’s RBB Radioeins, and lending their remix skills to Local Suicide on their Eros Anikate album, Boys’ Shorts are yet again back on Iptamenos Discos with ‘Something to Forget’. The duo consists of Vangelis and
Tareq who have been friends for over a decade and have had an incredibly successful year, with a string of highly praised releases on Permanent Vacation, Live At Robert Johnson, HE.SHE.THEY & Pets Recordings, and DJ sets in esteemed venues including London’s E1 and Berlin’s Berghain as well as remixing Alison Goldfrapp and supporting her on tour.

‘Something To Forget’, the first single and title track starts with a strong kick and a prominent snare which punches through the mix and becomes a driving force which anchors the track. The bouncy and energetic bassline is contrasted with lyrics which are somewhat melancholic, however they are performed in a way that gives them an underlying sense of optimism.

The extremely talented producer Gabe Gurnsey, a regular on Phantasy Sound and member of Factory Floor, puts forward a dancefloor focused remix of ‘Something To Forget’, which ups the tempo and shifts the focus to the bassline, teasing snippets of the vocals initially and only letting them play out in full for a moment after the break.

‘Flying Away’ features washed out synths packed with reverb and dreamy emotion filled vocals that float around your head, and toe the line between happy and sad, never quite landing on either and leaving it up to the listener for interpretation.

Roman DJ and producer, Whitesquare is on remix duties for ‘Flying Away’ and throws away all questions of what tone the track will follow with the introduction of a euphoric and nostalgic piano melody in the breakdown, that will bring a smile to everyone’s face and a wave of positive energy over any dancefloor.

Something To Forget’ is sure to be a revered release by Boys’ Shorts and another exciting addition to the Iptamenos Discos catalogue. The full EP including both remixes will be released on all digital/streaming platforms and 12” vinyl on June 14th, 2024.

PEUT ETRE, a fervent music enthusiast and independant producer, blends a mix of genres in his sets, creating a sonic journey that floats between Dark Disco, RetroWave, SynthWave and Trance, with a strong undercurrent of '80s and '90s influences. We celebrates its 40th reference, with a round EP titled “Time” by the Mexican DJ living in France, LEONOR. He has released on several labels and his music has reached top positions on Beatport and Juno. Now LEONOR returns with a sonic journey that skillfully fuses elements of disco, electro and techno.

The title track, “Time,” sets the tone for her with its most hypnotic rhythms and enveloping melodies that evoke a feeling of constant movement through time. First released back in 2013, You Man's debut EP Restless -and its lead track Birdcage- launched the career of French duo Tepat Huleux and Giac Di Falco, kickstarting a decade of stunning live shows played all around the globe and acclaimed releases and remixes on labels such as as Tronik Youth’s NEIN, Boston Bun’s Circa’99 and Eskimo Recordings. Now, to celebrate their first ten years in the game Huleux and Di Falco have revisited their debut EP, and this time they've brought along some of the many friends they've made over the past decade, from house legend Etienne de Crécy to pianist Des Jonquilles.

Taking things even further out there Parisian trio PPJ send Birdcage on a trip to Brazil's carnivals, vocalist Páula adding her own lyrics to the remix's freshly added and frenetic South American electro rhythms. Leaving thoughts of sunshine and the beach behind, sometime NEIN label-mates and fellow French duo Kimshies take Birdcage in a much darker direction, sparse electro beats and atmospheric washes of synths combine to create a shiver inducing John Carpenter-esque atmosphere.

We're not sure who Hoochie Coochie Papa is - or are, as it may be more than one producer - but this first outing on Golden Soul is pretty darn good. "Work Me Body" is a deliciously sweaty and throbbing affair; a contemporary take on Italo-disco and mid 1980s Hi-NRG rich in arpeggio style synth-bass, spacey electronic melodies, sampled male vocal snippets and glassy-eyed chords. The first of two accompanying remixes comes courtesy of Spanish scene stalwart James Rod, who adds insatiable cowbells while stripping the cut back to its' muscular, arpeggio-driven core. To round things off, man of the moment Andy Buchan re-imagines "Work Your Body" as an ear-catching tribute to Giorgio Moroder's production work on Donna Summer's "I Feel Love".
