Shir Khan continues his flurry of activity with another release in as many weeks. Obviously preparing us for a Summer of shoulder-swinging debauchery, the Black Jukebox pumps out another set of terrace friendly twonkers for the masses, with Freiboitar and Hurlee taking charge of proceedings for number 23 in the set. "Blew My Mind" and "What's Up" are Freiboitar's offerings; both pumpin', new funky house numbers with intricate sample choppage and wonderful, speaker-teasing mixing and mastering. Hurlee's trax take up side B with "On The Floor" and transforms it into a loopy and fuzzy deep house gem. Finally "Disco Love" revisits another joyful moment of disco and funky house history, adding its own interpretation on a hook that's familiar to anyone that's spent more than a fleeting moment on the dancefloor. Strongest Shir Khan for a while this one pop pickers - don't be late to the party!

The Funk District bringing us the perfect blends for the summer, get ready !!! For our first delight 'Freaky Stuff' Fernando drops a tropical funky conga - driven cut with fresh guitars, dominant slaps on the bass section and harmonic vocal chops as a starter. Right next to it comes 'Do It Right' dominated by a perpetual bassline filled with Afro vocals and trumpet riffs making it an intense cut with lots of energy. On the other side 'Soul Vibration' arrives with a tropical disco vibe with his rich rhythm section filled with congas, outstanding trumpet solos and catchy vocals to sing along. To finish the release 'Tin Lin Lon' samples a classic African tune from Benin with a funky - house touch making it an exceptional gem to make your body move anytime & everywhere ... you cannot miss it !!

Pato Watson and James Rod think that nu-disco has had its day. Instead, they've decided to champion "Disco Nu". So how does it differ to the shiny, synth-laden sound of nu-disco? Well, for starters its' dark and driving, with echo-laden spoken word snippets and trippy guitar sounds rising above unfussy drums and a bassline that's powerful, heavy, druggy and thrusting. There are synth riffs, too, though they're sharper than your average nu-disco workout. Tony Disco delivers the first remix, a low-slung affair that wraps breezy house pianos round a no-nonsense disco-house groove. In contrast, the "Deep Rating Version" is a delay-laden dub disco excursion rich in sustained synthesizer chords, crashing cymbals and elastic bass. All three versions are top-notch, though we probably prefer the latter.
