Ben Hawkins is a brand new 4-piece band formed by members of the Americana band „Smokestack Lightnin'“ and the 60's beat group „The Mergers“.
The protagonists, Axel Brückner (lead vocals, organ), André Langer (guitar, backing voc.), Florian Kenner (electric bass, backing voc.) and Michael Kargel
(drums), have years of experience in european live music business and get a kick out of seeing Ben Hawkins growing up! Heavily influenced by the sound of 60’s and 70’s soul and rhythm & blues music in the style of Otis Redding, Booker T. & the MG's, Marvin Gaye and the complete Motown catalogue to nowadays genre ambassadors like Amy Winehouse, Alabama Shakes or The Detroit
Cobras, they also share a deep love for simple, psychedelic and hypnotic dance grooves. Combining all this, Ben Hawkins play a retroorientated but fresh way of rhythm & blues and soul music with a european twist that shows you directly
the way to the dance floor.
