Off The Record Mix Series 29: Kay Suzuki (Time Capsule)

neither serious/or, I take the liberty/of not writing to you/regarding my serious 'Variations' is a piece about unformed relationships between people and scores. A string quartet sight-reads unfamiliar material on stage, under a time pressure situation where they do not have enough time to rehearse and play the piece adequately (continuing a series of works I have written exploring this idea). The material is based on a piece they know already (Beethoven Op. 18 No. 2), giving the unfamiliar score a sense of false familiarity.
