Familiar names to Tiefschwarz’s imprint, French duo Jules & Moss return with the Head Juice EP. As the vivid imagery of the title conjures to mind, the EP journeys through an oozing palette of sounds which, when played at the right time, can take clubbers to another realm.

After releasing on Dirtybird, Monique Musique  amongst a wealth of others, the duo show here exactly why Souvenir is the perfect home for their productions. Making further explorations into electronic sounds, toying with heavy-hitting percussion, earworm vocals, spacious pads and funk-fuelled basslines. Their style is characterized by an atmosphere of their own making, laden with sleaze, enhanced with groove and drenched in originality.

Special guest, Locked Groove, is also called into action here for a remix of the title track in which he strips everything away only to revel in the hypnotic, tinnitus-soaked lo-fi rendition only he can produce.

mono no aware (もののあわれ) is the first compilation to be released on PAN, collating unreleased ambient tracks from both new and existing PAN artists.

Featuring Jeff Witscher, Helm, TCF, Yves Tumor, M.E.S.H., Pan Daijing, HVAD, Kareem Lotfy, ADR, Mya Gomez, Sky H1, James K, Oli XL, Bill Kouligas, Flora Yin-Wong, Malibu, and AYYA, the compilation moves through more traditional notions of what is called ’ambient’, to incorporating wider variations that fall under the term.

“Mono no aware”, ‘the pathos of things’, also translates as “an empathy toward things", or "a sensitivity to ephemera”. A term for the awareness of impermanence, or the transience of things. A meditation on mortality and life's transience, ephemerality heightens the appreciation of beauty and sensitivity to their passing. In investigating the passing of time, the boundaries between memory and hallucination become blurred; between fiction and reality. The movement of time transforms into an eternal present.

The album is mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, featuring photography by Molly Matalon and design by Bill Kouligas. A limited version of 100 copies will be released as a special art edition in collaboration with Mount Analog for the LA Art Book Fair 2017, before going on general release.

ROD is a new artist for Afterlife Recordings and ‘Brighten Up Bunny’ is another high-quality entry in Benny Rodrigues’ acclaimed discography.

The EP’s title track opens the record with bright, uplifting synth notes and a weighty kick drum - Rodrigues’ fresh take on the Afterlife sound. Getting deeper and darker with ‘Welcome Back Mama’, ROD fuses razor-sharp claps and a punchy bassline to dazzling effect. ‘Melodi’ takes an eerie turn, burying the drums under metallic shimmers and disorientating reverberations. On the remix, FJAAK treat ‘Welcome Back Mama’ with a warehouse-ready pulse and sharpen its edges.
