𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒆𝒓𝒆: Night Garden - Regenerate [BAIT3]

New French imprint Bait is a label focused on the cross over of two spheres: snare heavy bass-music and immersive mental techno. The outcome is technoïd-dubstep that is minimal, contemplative and at the same time calls for gun fingers and backspins. Label boss Beatrice M. likes to call the genre “dubtek”. This particular release, focused on the more prog and trance-inducing side of the coin, includes "Regenerate", British artist Night Garden's take on Bait's AD. Intelligibly designed, the atmosphere of his track is a perfect balance of trippy textures and sharp drums. The snare on the 3rd beat winks to a genre nicknames "140", but completely re-imagined here, in a fresh yet woozy tunnel.

Sometimes you do things that you don't really understand until much later. You play drums in a band at school, you get immersed in the electronic layers behind video games, and then you fall in love with analogue machines. Veil has carefully woven all these stages into his project, which is as musical as it is visual.

His new opus, ‘Borrow My Eyes’, reflects his universe tinged with science fiction, UK influences, ambient and textural interplay. Variations in broken rhythms collide with flashes of electro and murky synthetic veils, creating a cinematography that is both raw and enveloping.

The four tracks provoke an experience that is both sonic on the outside and visual on the inside. Your eyes close and your mind opens up to Veil's mental screen, offering a slice of your memories that you can interpret with the nostalgia of your choice. The Dutchman job sifre offers a tangy, deconstructed version of this with his remix of the track ‘Pretty Light’.

With this second EP ever released and his second offering to the Electric Shapes' catalogue, Smogo dove deeper into the areas of the subconscient. With a blend of hard rhythms and dangerous sound designs, gathering both his love for Science-Fiction and organic textures, this new EP reflects more than anything his attraction towards ultramodern mental music, well reflecting the ongoing european enthusiasm for fast paced techno, buzzing soundscapes, ethereal harshnes, citing A Strange Wedding, Raär, Solma, Trois-Quarts Taxi System or Sole Massif as his source of influence. Calling this wave as "psytech", it conjures on the dancefloor a bestial spirit made for dance, self-abandon, communion with the others.

Based in Zagreb, Croatia. Experimenting with abstract, atmospheric elements, creating a tense and abstract, dark and dreamy landscapes. the rhythms are folded into irregular patterns that create a sense of uneasiness and tension. Sounds like distorted drones and vibrating and ragged synth tones blend into an immersive, meditative silence, while the ambient texture creates a sense of intimacy and isolation.

Standards & Practices is proud to present the new full-length collaborative release from Stave & Karim Maas, "Into Eternity". Comprised of material that emerged from a particularly fruitful session following their first collaborative effort ("Godless", on the Bristol-based imprint UVB-76), their second LP picks up where that release left off with eight tracks of sleek and brutal bass & breaks music, demonstrating the same kind of disciplined rigor, focus, and attention to detail that characterized their first collaboration together.

From the terse, sinuous opener "Invaders Will Die (The Falling Tsar)"—which moves and prowls like a snake stalking its prey, to the low-slung and corrosive "Liar" and "For A Shaking Mind" (both of which brings to mind some of Mick Harris's work as Scorn), the entire set has a sustained atmosphere of existential dread and brooding menace that is difficult to shake.
