The Sounds Of A New Planet

Das Instrumentalstück "The funeral of Democracy" knüpft eigentlich an den Song "Hilfe, in mir steckt ein kleiner Nazi" an und gibt meine Sorge um den drohenden weltweiten Niedergang demokratischer Strukturen wieder. Die Musik entstand nach einem Tagtraum, in dem ich ein riesiges Grab sah, drumherum ein schwarzgewandeter Chor und eine Klassik-Rockband. In das Grab wird gerade der Sarg mit den sterblichen Resten der Demokratie hinabgelassen. 
Das Instrumentalstück mündet direkt in die Ballade "Barbara" ein. Ich besinge damit eine meiner Schwestern, die sich bei allen Schicksalsschlägen ein "Mondkind" bewahrt hat, das immer noch träumen kann, Visionen hat und sich eine eigene Meinung bewahrt hat. Dies ist vielleicht auch meine Hoffnung für alle Menschen, in denen ich einen gesunden, urdemokratischen Kern sehe, den es weltumspannend (noch mehr)zugänglich zu machen gilt.

The instrumental piece "The funeral of Democracy" actually ties in with the song "Help, there is a little Nazi inside me " and reflects my concern about the impending worldwide decline of democratic structures. The music was created after a daydream in which I saw a huge grave, around it a black-clad choir and a classical rock band. The coffin with the mortal remains of democracy is being lowered into the grave. 
The instrumental piece leads directly into the ballad "Barbara". With it I sing of one of my sisters who, despite all the blows of fate, has retained a "moon child" who can still dream, has visions and has retained her own opinion. This is perhaps also my hope for all people in whom I see a healthy, democratic core that must be made (even more) accessible worldwide.

Ein simples Lied mit gut drei Akkorden. Es entstand in einer Zeit, in der mir alles über den Kopf zu wachsen drohte. Und da kam beim improvisieren mit der A-Gitarre dieser Song daher. Dazu passend auch der Text mit den Phasen Selbstüberschätzung, Desillusionierung und dann wieder bei den basalen, einfachen Dingen des Lebens ankommen.

A simple song with three chords. It came into being at a time when everything threatened to outgrow me. And there came this song while improvising with the A-guitar. The text with the phases of overconfidence, disillusionment and then returning to the basal, simple things of life.

Einfachheit (Simplicity)

Ich will Facebook oder andere soziale Medien überhaupt nicht pauschal verteufeln. Ich nutze sie ja selbst u.a. für noch bessere soziale oder musikalische Vernetzung. Aber der zunehmende digitale Mißbrauch von Kindern durch manche narzißtische Eltern, die für ihre Anerkennung Söhne oder Töchter ungefragt ins Internet stellen, mußte ich in einem meiner Songs kritisch, klar und deutlich ansprechen. 
Musikalisch handelt es sich um drei miteinander verwobene Songs: "Facebook-Nutte" beschreibt den wütenden Aufschrei eines jugendlichen Mädchens, dass den digitalen Missbrauch Ihrer Fotos/Videos etc. durch ihre Eltern entdeckt hat. "Mercedeskind" gibt dann die scheinheilig anmutende Perspektive der Eltern wieder. "Eisprinzessin" zeigt schließlich die möglichen verheerenden Folgen für digital mißbrauchte Kinder auf: Rückzug, sich abschotten, sich emotional totstellen....

I don't want to demonize Facebook or other social media at all. I use them myself for even better social or musical networking. But the increasing digital abuse of children by some narcissistic parents, who put sons or daughters on the Internet without being asked for their recognition, I had to address critically and clearly in one of my songs. 
Musically, these are three interwoven songs: "Facebook-Prostitute" describes the angry cry of a teenage girl who discovered the digital abuse of her photos/videos etc. by her parents. "Mercedes-Child" then reflects the hypocritical-looking perspective of the parents. "Finally, "Ice Princess" shows the possible devastating consequences for digitally abused children: Retreat, shutting oneself off, pretending to be emotionally dead.....

Facebook-Nutte - Mercedeskind - Eisprinzessin (Facebook-Prostitute -Mercedes-Child - Ice-Princess)

Der Song beginnt mit einem Instrumentalteil, mit dem ich auch die in mir immer wieder vorherrschende Bipolarität "Melancholie/tiefe Traurigkeit - Mitunter überschießende Hoffnung/Kreative Overflows" zum Ausdruck bringen möchte.
Darauf folgt unmittelbar der eigentliche Song, der eine Art Hohelied auf die Androgynität und die bipolare Integration ist. Entsprechend gleicht der Sound manchmal einem guten Elternteil, der sein Kind sanft hin- und herwiegt, um so zwischen- den diesem kleinen Wesen innewohnenden- Polaritäten behutsam eine Verbindung oder ein "gefühltes Und" herzustellen.

The song begins with an instrumental part, with which I would also like to express the bipolarity "melancholy/deep sadness - sometimes exaggerated hope/creative overflows" that prevails in me so often.
This is immediately followed by the actual song, which is a kind of song of praise for androgyny and bipolar integration. Accordingly, the sound sometimes resembles a good parent who gently swayes his child back and forth in order to carefully establish a connection or a "felt and" between the polarities inherent in this small being.

Die Urfassung ist 1983 entstanden und gibt mein Lebensgefühl von damals wieder. Es war die Hochzeit der Friedensbewegung und ich war oft bei den Hungerstreiks als eine Form der Protestbewegung ganz vorne mit dabei. Da stand ich dann völlig abgerissen und ausgehungert an meinem Stand und schaute mir die Menschen an, die oft beschämt, mit einem schlechten Gewissen behaftet oder weil Sie mich schlichtweg für einen Spinner halten ohne jegliche Kontaktnahme an mir vorbeihuschten. Diese Erlebnisse haben mich zu diesem Song und Text inspiriert.

The original version was created in 1983 and reflects my attitude to life from that time. It was the wedding of the peace movement and I was often at the forefront of the hunger strikes as a form of protest. There I stood completely torn off and starved to death at my stand and looked at the people who-  often ashamed, with a guilty conscience or because they simply thought I was a madman- passed me avoiding any contact to me. These experiences inspired me to this song and lyrics.
