Steppers Division is an international Soul Rock band from Berlin and London.
With their blasting rhythmically infused beats and soulful melodies they effortlessly blend Western
pop sensibilities with more traditional African influences, uplifting all who listen to them.
The band was started four years ago by reggae bass player Marc Sipeky (SK), who had grown
disillusioned by the corporate music industry and the over-saturation of electronic sounds, instead
he wanted to create an act that really focused on the live element. So he has placed a real rhythm
section at the core of the band and he dubbed the act Steppers Division in honour of the rhythmic
foot stomping emphasis placed on the ‘one drop’ in reggae, which is affectionately known in
Jamaica as the ‘Steppers Beat’.
After collaborating with musicians from Germany, the UK, The Netherlands and Jamaica and
creating two albums of material, there was just one missing piece from the puzzle, a lead singer
based in Europe...
Fortunately a fortuitous recording session led in 2021 to an introduction to a powerful tenor called
Joey Garande, based in England but Zimbabwean by birth. This was the man Marc had been
searching for, a singer with a rich voice and a strong talent for songwriting, with an ear for catchy
melody. Understandably, it wasn’t long before a creative frenzy of musical collaboration erupted
between Joey, Marc and the band. The result was new material that has been recorded over the
last year.
The tail end of 2022 has seen the release of Steppers Divisions’ first single ‘Shine On Me'. This
seductive rocky, soulful ballad is sure to captivate and inspire all who are lucky enough to hear
it. From Berlin, Germany to London, England.... this is Steppers Division; ready and poised to
emphatically march forth into the musical fray and if you are lucky enough to seem the live
don’t hesitate to step in line with their joyful momentum.

Long years of creativity of two sisters which grew into a music project called 'genius locci'.

Born in Siberia and spent most of my childhood in Moldova I was exposed to a variety of folk and ethnic music. I always thoroughly enjoyed playing with my stereo and drumming to the rhythms using house chairs. Music always fascinated me as a tool of transformation into a different reality. I began my DJ carrier playing tunes at the house parties and friend’s birthdays and weddings. I live in NYC now more then two decades and consider myself a New Yorker. I organize dozens of concerts and parties in NYC each year. My music interests vary, I like to play across the board Ska, Reggae, Rocksteady, Jazzy Hip-Hop, Afro Beat, Funk, Disco, Retro, World music. I collect Vinyl Records. I love setting the dance floor on fire using my unique mixture of world rhythms. I produced “Swingin’Penguin” Electro Swing Parties, Soviet 80′s Parties, as well Multiple Live Concerts and Events.
