“UIUAWIO is me killing time by covering Odyssey and singing into my laptop in a budget hotel in Mexico while my wife met with her lawyers next door. I think most of the best stuff people make comes in those loose moments that take place between doing everything else properly. Psychedelectricity is me writing lyrics for a fictitious song title that I read in a comic book story by Grant Morrison almost 30 years ago."

The nomadic life was all they knew, for as long as they could remember they'd moved from place to place, with one eye constantly looking over their shoulder. In this day and age it was impossible to remain undercover; to don a new identity and pitch up somewhere for an extended period of time. No matter where they went, what buses, trains or planes they boarded, eventually they'd be tracked down and there was no knowing what would happen then...

After welcoming PCL to Slow Motion's Wrong Era off shoot back in June, label boss Fabrizio Mammarella makes his return to the parent imprint arm-in-arm with Italian retro-futurist producer Bottin for a brand new project: EYE-BM. The pair were jamming at CIMM studios when the release came to be; it's a melting pot of their combined musical passions. Backed by a remix from Italian synth wave icon Alexander Robotnick, the EP features three original tracks to get your body moving, which blend EBM, electro, Italo disco, cyberpunk and new beat.

Following on from Tu Sei Pazza, Daniel Monaco returns to the Bordello with the bitter taste of the TB303 on his tongue. Acid Maria smoulders with the intensity of a Belgian new beat banger circa 1989. Smoky words whisper over rusted rhythms before the fog and strobe take hold. Cold strings haunt with snaking coils of 303 squawk growing ever bolder in this intense track. The flip is divided into two very different remixes. First up is Curses who approaches the piece in his own unique way. The fanfare and frigid lines of the original are expanded. Strings come care of guitars as a bright synth wave reimaging unfolds, a reimaging with one of the most daring breaks you are likely to ever hear. Younger Than Me close. This interpretation adds a fevered tone to the original. BPMs rise and pitches are pushed while chilly notes soon balloon into a frenzy to bring a full floor energy. Cormac brings the heat into the new year with a brand new EP on his Polari imprint, this time coming from Greek DJ/production duo,  Boys‘ Shorts.

Boys’ Shorts is a Greek DJ/production duo based in London. The duo was founded by Vangelis (ex-LAGASTA) and Tareq. 

The Crop Tops EP‘s title track is a lyrical ode to queer dancefloor longing and is already proving to be a much requested hit.‘Days Without You‘ and ‘Nostalgia‘ compliment each other with a laidback emotional warmth, whilst ‘In The City‘ draws on their rave culture roots. The EP displays an expansive and clever musical world.

Cormac on the EP:
Boys‘ Shorts are two talented greek queers, whose music I've been playing for the last few years. I love their use of lyrics , their nods to rave and 90s music culture. It's truly a great thing to showcase them at their pop sensibility finest with the Crop Tops EP. All of these tracks have been heavily ID requested in my sets the last year.

Forthcoming EP Crop Tops is due to be released digitally, 17th of February.

Vito Roccoforte and Gabriel Andruzzi – AKA Mother Of Mars are BACK, this time featuring the luxuriant vocal delights of Satomi Matsuzaki.

Vito and Gabe are best known as members of era-defining NY post punkers The Rapture and continue their tradition of angular yet danceable, hooky yet challenging musical output with brand new EP, Harmonium Detector.

Title track, Harmonium Detector, is based on the concept of breaking up with your cellphone - something Vito has attempted in the past, with limited success! It showcases Satomi’s lush vocals, transporting the listener to a world of rapturous electronic elation. Its intricate layers of rhythm create a unique and mesmerising listening experience that will have you bopping on the spot in no time at all.

We've enlisted the talents of two incredible remixers to put their spin on the original too. First up is Max Pask, who delivers a disco workout of a remix that adds a new dimension to the original. With his expert ear, he’s teased out parts from the MoM version to create a true disco behemoth - this mix is going to be burning up dance floors all over the world.

Next, Hologram Teen's Espresso ESP Remix takes it in a House-ier direction, with its bouncy, energetic sounds, squelchy bassline and vocodered vocals. Morgane (previously of seminal French Avant-Popsters, Stereolab) has created something truly experimental, yet thoroughly dance-able here, invoking shades of Laurie Anderson.

Finally, the Harmonium Decorum (Edit), provides an ephemeral, radio-friendly version of the original track that still retains its pulsating, fun energy
