GCR001 - DJ Keegan

DJ Keegan is no stranger to the custard life and has held residency’s in Melbourne and played many a gig across the South of the UK. His main influences were predominantly garage based however over the years, has been transformed into a resounding house and disco head. He's the type of DJ that could start a party in your nans cereal cupboard. His passion for pumpers is showcased nicely in this mix, along with his ability to chop vocals in and out like Gordon Ramsey himself. Incorporating all that’s great about disco, starting with a brand new track from Shapeshifters which sounds like it is fresh off an 80's dancefloor. To Mark Funk sampling a classic from Chaka Khan. Finally finishing off on his one his favourite tracks of all time by Marlena Shaw, DJ Keegans mix really exemplifies the spirit of the Good Custard vibe.

Novis by name, but no novice when it comes to dropping certified dancefloor heaters. With his Manchester debut just last year, he has gained notoriety in the Good Custard ranks displaying a strong depth and variation in track selection. Dropping RKO’s outta nowhere has become a staple trademark of his sets much like the signature curtains he sports on a day to day basis.
The mix illustrates the range of tunes in his arsenal and the funky basslines exploited by Nov and the rest of Good Custard residents. This mix is sure to get your quarantine session into a quaranTUNE session.

Hot off the heels from our first live stream this past weekend, Harry has provided us with a fresh afrobeat inspired mix which delivers a bigger kick than the food he’s known for eating. He’s a man of very few words, which is often mirrored well by the distinct lack of vocals in his sets. With his poor taste in football teams he doesn’t half make up for it with his music. Sure they’ll be plenty more to come from Mr. Bailey.

Ellis is another of the custard crew straight out the blocks with his first mix of the series. His devotion to the custard life is frequently displayed with his infamous yellow hair, hat and jacket combinations. The range of hats in his mix is also a very good resemblance of the range of hats hanging from his bedroom door. If he’s not cooking up custard behind his desk you’ll find Ellis smoking Bensons and making pornstars. With many of his own edits and remix’s already under his belt this boys one to watch.

DJ Naomi Faith, a regular on the Manchester scene, found her way into DJing through her sister. Since then she has managed to seamlessly blend her two loves of fashion and DJing, making a name for herself in the local area. Notable events include; Vogue's Fashion Night Out, Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser and Morphe. Playing alongside the likes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Scott Mills.

With a substantial music collection spanning from the 1950s right up to current releases, Naomi is able to cater for any event. She has a passion for digging out forgotten funky gems from past decades and getting everybody dancing. If you’re out around the Manchester area be sure to look out for her sets at the likes of The Ivy, The Alchemist and also in Northern Quarter venues such as Tarrif & Dale and Ply!

REETA is a proud mancunian and strong purveyor of incredible dance records. Influenced by the rich relationship with dance music culture that is embedded in her hometown, it is clear to see why REETA is making her name for herself on the northern disco circuit.

Since bursting onto the local scene, this daring DJ has gone from strength to strength. REETA’s style and skill has been recognised by both local promoters and big names alike. Making her DEFECTED debut at the label’s Croatia festival following a DJ competition win and appearing on line ups for Sankeys, BeatHerder and District 8 (Dublin), this northern talent is duly gaining recognition for her abilities behind the decks.

REETA refuses to be bound by genre, instead choosing to play records she knows will get people grooving. Her ability to switch it up and read the room is undeniable. Growing up on a varied diet of genres from the soulful grooves of the 70s to the grittier sounds of the early 80s New Romantic movement, REETA is able to captivate any audience with her track selection. Her performances radiate the fundamental core of love and unity that encapsulates the dance community, ensuring that she fulfils her role of serving the loyal ravers on the dancefloor.

With releases out already on Hot Digits, OneFold Records, ​REETA’s latest remix for House duo Lambert and Handle, ‘Got to be Groove’ is forthcoming on Play and Tonic Records.

Following on from his Curfew Cutoff Sessions appearance earlier this month we are proud to welcome Lqwis to the custard mix series. 

Lqwis is a Manchester based, multi genre selector new to the scene with a passion for a wide spectrum of music. A dedicated crate-digger at heart, with a choppy style and a love for blending sounds that probably shouldn't mix. Inspirations ranging from D'Angelo, Herbie Hancock, Sango, and The Busy Twist through to 2Pac, Kaytranada and Conducta.

Having travelled around the world to the likes of South Korea and New York pursuing a breakdancing career, Lucy has since moved back to England to pursue a career as a DJ. Having played for companies such as Morphe, Irlam Live, Off Your Box and other venues around the region, she's certainly one to watch out for. Big Al AKA Alex Bould is a close friend of the Custard camp. Based in Cambridge, coffee connoisseur by day but bad boy beat-matcher by night. 

Original member of ARK alongside Custard resident Pon, Alex made his Custard debut with their B2B on our Curfew Cutoff Sessions last month. Al has played in cities across the UK including Leeds, Birmingham and London. His style can be described as melodic, percussion-heavy house with a particular liking for afro-vocals. Here he’s provided us with a tasty 45 minute insight into the life of Big Al.
