We happily present Holtoug's second installment on Connaisseur. With "Everywhere“ the up-and-coming Dane delivers the perfect follow-up to his already remarkable debut "Everybody“ from earlier this year. An amazing two-tracker setting the bar even higher and proving his extraordinary production skills.
"Sometimes“, the first title of his new release, is one of those special tracks which causes severe mayhem on the dancefloor when played at the right moment. A piano-driven house-bomb with a very long break demanding everything from you.
"Everywhere Around You“ however, is an universal state-of-the-art house track that you fall in love with straight away. With the haunting vocals by Theo Fearing, it is alluring from the beginning to its end.

Furthermore with „Everywhere“ we are starting a new artwork series featuring the amazing paintings by the young danish artist Sjulle Anker. More info on her very soon.

Geil is a French artist living in Montpellier who started his career on the Techno scene in 2006, since then he has been working as a producer under the name of Citizen Kain.
This new project, more intimate, more personal, with its subtle sounds is also more narrative. It is devoted to atmospheric House/Tech house with relentless grooves and a characteristic rhythms, like the evidence of a sensible and highly talented personality. 

Next up on Claude Monnet's 20 year strong label SSOH is Geil with a hot new track that gets remixed by Berlin techno talent Ian Pooley, the label boss himself and Bedrock man Atapy. The original from Geil is a romantic late night and mid tempo house tune with warm and soulful pads that shimmer above the drums. A seductive, whispered vocal line is delivered in french and adds to the steaminess and all in all its a faultless deep house classic. 

Atapy remixes with a much sterner and steely vibe pervading. The percussion is stiff and mechanical, the vocal is more ghostly and you can imagine this ding damage in a sweaty back room during peak time. Ian Pooley, label boss and long time DJ and producer on the Berlin scene, then flips the original into a slightly more driven deep hose track with rubbery drums, thick synth lines and a sense of real purpose. 

Finally, Claude Monnet comes good with his deeply groovy, hypnotically swaying remix. His pads stretch off into the distance and the percussion adds bite to the soft synths so that you remain locked from start to finish. You don't get to 58 releases without being a great label, and SSOH proves that once again here.

It’s with great pride (and a certain sense of defiance!) that Tom and I present
you with the 200th Freerange release. Despite the best efforts of three bankrupt
distributors, an arsonist (who set the Sony warehouse ablaze back in 2012) and a
volatile market, we retained the fire in our bellies, a stiff upper lip, and most
importantly an unrelenting passion for electronic music, we soldiered on and here
we are at Freerange 200!
To mark the occasion we wanted to put together a compilation of exclusive new
tracks from both long-standing Freerange regulars as well as some fresh artists
to the label whose music we’ve been loving.  Being committed to vinyl we figured
the best way would be to do a two part release with four-tracks on each part.

Turning to Part B we open with a brilliant track with almost as good a title;
Hamburglar from Luv Jam.  This guy has been responsible for killer cuts on
esteemed labels such as We Play House, Tsuba and Phonica White so we wanted in on
the action and thankfully he indulged us.  We absolutely love the raw simplicity
of this track which bumps along just perfectly with not much more than a kick,
clap and single note bass line to keep you grooving. Apart from the repeating
piano stab hooking you in and sending people nuts when everything drops out in
the break that is.
Esa & Mervin Granger come next with the sublime deepness of Goema Heat.  Esa’s
proudly wearing his Cape Town roots on his sleeves on this one and as the title
suggests, has come up with the perfect track to warm up any party worth it’s
salts. We’re talking heavy on the percussion and tantalizing synth FX and a
lovely tension which builds subtly before taking things up a gear after the
breakdown when the bouncing bassline comes to the fore.
It’s fare to say a Freerange release such as this wouldn’t be complete without a
Manuel Tur contribution, so while we’ve been busy putting together his
forthcoming Remix Retrospective LP we’re happy to say Manuel found the time to
put together this gem entitled Laguenesie.
And last but not least we have Kito Jempere with his track This Is Why We Do This
featuring Detroit luminary Jerry The Cat.  St. Petersburg native Kito drops
serious heat on this raw and dubby club jam which we feel is probably as close to
an ‘archetypal’ Freerange track as it’s possible to get so sums up this special
release perfectly.

After a busy Spring with the launch of her Neverwhere Radio show, new tracks on Get Physical and mixing their latest Full Body Workout compilation, CAMEA sets the stage for summer with her next Bpitch Control installment. This will be CAMEA‘s third solo release on Ellen Allien’s imprint, following up her highly acclaimed ‘City Watch Over Me’ and ‘Neverwhere’ singles, as well as a vinyl only remix project featuring Deadbeat, Locked Groove and Lee Jones. Now the Seattle-born artist and Berlin resident contributes a great three-track collection for her new single titled, ’The Hallway’, out in vinyl and digital format.
In this selection, CAMEA continues to lay the foundation for her experimental combination of deep house and tech- no with a collection of three mind-bending pieces. The A side track, Wormhole, is a peak time techno space burner for the main stage, while the B-side goes deeper with two kaleidoscopic tech house tunes. The titled track, ‚The Hallway’, is a psychotropic and funky descent, layered with trippy vocals and spaced-out melodies, all connected by an irresistibly towering peak. Finally, ‘Orchestra of Dreams’ concludes her release with a harmonious and passionate dance ballad, rippling it’s way in and out of FM synthesis and orchestral harmonies for an eerie and elegant piece. CAMEA’s sound and ideas speak loudly on this release, sharing with us another part of her journey and adding ano- ther essential piece to her discography and the Bpitch archive.
