Good Room is welcoming another DJ to the family... Tom of England is starting his residency at the club next month. Thomas Bullock's roll call includes Tonka Sound System, Wicked Sound System, A.R.E. Weapons, Rub-n-Tug, Map of Africa and STD Records, having worked with DJs like DJ Harvey and Eric Duncan.

Anyone who has seen him DJ before can attest to his sheer brilliance behind the decks with a musical knowledge that is hard to beat. In the 12th Good Room Podcast he goes from rock disco to techno and everything in between. Eclectic doesn't even begin to describe it.

Good Room resident and Tiki Disco legend Lloydski has been kicking it around NYC for 13 years, taking his record bag with him everywhere he goes. Growing up around DJs, he was influenced by everything from The Human League to experimental jazz to disco. His favorite record is still 'Is It All Over My Face' by Loose Joints, but his best records are the dollar records he found digging around town at places like A1 or Academy. 

Lloydski loves playing the records that are often overlooked, which is what makes his Good Room Podcast so unique. He's back at Good Room on December 23 and again on NYE with Tiki Disco.

Octo Octa is an artist for the heads. Maya Bouldry-Morrison's creates a finely-tuned marriage of exquisite compositional flare, meticulously-sculpted sonics, and primal dance-floor functionality. Based in Brooklyn, she's been pushing her unique sonic perspective and shimmering club-ready earworms since 2011 with releases on Running Back, 100% Silk and Argot. 

She's put together a mix for the 26th Good Room Podcast ahead of her live set at the club on February 12 saying "It's kind of funny because it's not what I DJ a lot, but it's what I listen to the most at home. I mostly DJ vocal house, probably carry a few too many Chandler records".

A native New Yorker, Jake Reif spent some musically formative years in the Midwest, drawing a massive influence from the cultures of Chicago and Detroit. Fueled by the underground energy of warehouse and loft parties of the era, he began his DJ career in the early 1990's. When he returned to NYC he worked with legendary electronic music purveyors at Sonic Groove Records and Syntax Music Distribution.

Over the years he's put out releases on Rong Music as Savage Hymn (with Mystic Bill) and Path Records as Upsetting Keys (with Reade Truth) as well as recent remixes on Snuff Trax. This year he joins the L.I.E.S family with a record to be released in the coming months.

He runs Let's Play House, a roving house, disco, and techno party as well as an imprint of the same persuasion, with friend and partner, Nik Mercer. He owns three plants, a rotary mixer, thousands of records, and a similar number of T-shirts.  Despite working within the confines of a different genre, Dischord Records is still probably his favorite label.

A pioneer of the dance music scene in the early seventies, Nicky was the owner/designer/DJ of the legendary seventies dance palace The Gallery and went on to become one of the original Studio 54 resident DJs. He worked the DJ booth at Bianca Jagger's infamous Studio 54 birthday party. He inspired and launched the careers of Grace Jones, D.C. La Rue, Loleatta Holloway, Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles, to name a few.

“I played the opening night of Good Room some time in 2014, and the final Saturday the club was open, March 7th, before this Coronavirus pandemic struck. In those years, it has served as my home base in two important ways. One is as a source of community. When I’m not on the road, I am usually there on the weekend seeing friends and my favorite DJ’s, and on arrival it usually takes me a while to get settled as I am warmly greeted by everyone from the person working the door to the owner, most of whom I consider friends. It’s a home away from home, and I think that is generally the vibe of the club. The second is the way Good Room, and Josh Houtkin, the booker and one half (along with the legendary Dave P.) of Fixed, in particular have supported me artistically over the years. Throughout the natural peaks and valleys of my career, Good Room, with Josh’s support, has been a reliable place for me to play, serving to both support me financially and more importantly artistically. It’s a place I can stretch out, try out new things to take on the road, take more chances, and where there is an audience that generally knows and trusts me. This is the primary importance of these medium sized venues. They are a breeding ground for the kinds of parties and DJ’ing that are the life-force of our music scene. It’s just big enough to support bringing in international favorites like Jennifer Cardini, Roman Flugel, John Talabot, and Martyn, among many others. But small enough to retain a purity of spirit, a sprit that is about the music and the shared sense of community that allows for transcendence. That is my first hand perspective, anyway, as someone involved from the beginning, and I am honored to be playing this first live stream broadcast in support of Good Room.”
