In July 2010, I got an invitation to play at a small but neat festival named Folk Ibiza. It was my first visit to the island. I got to spin at a bunch of different locations, such as the Hostal Boutique Salinas, Sunset Ashram, and on the terrace at Space. I returned in September of the following year to play a set on Andy Wilson's show on Ibiza Sonica and a second time at the Hostal. I have not been back to Ibiza since. I recently came across this picture (taken at Cala Compte next to Sunset Ashram), which inspired me to make this mix. I tried to sonically capture the vibe that I felt back then. It includes some bona fide classics such as Ashra "Oasis“, Santana "Aqua Marine," and Jah Wobble & Holger Czukay "Hold On To Your Dreams," as well as tunes by Smith & Mudd, Begin, Quiet Village and more. DJ, Producer & Cartoonist As a DJ, Andy Carthy aka Mr. Scruff plays across the board, flitting between soul, funk, hip hop, jazz, reggae, latin, african, ska, disco, house, funk, breaks, soundtracks and loads more. As a producer he makes music that draws on these influences, with a large dose of cheek and good humour.

Raised in South London on a diet of pirate radio and warehouse parties, Charlie Dark has been spinning records and igniting dance floors since the early eighties. If you ever caught his Blacktronica Parties at the legendary Plastic People then you’ll know that 'All forms of music in one room the way it used to be’ has always been his motto and his record crates run deep to live by that mantra.

Black Swan Lane and The Chameleons member MC Kwasi has worked with more artists and DJs than you could imagine. Possibly most famous as Mr Scruff's right wing man, the loveable MC was the host of the seminal Friends & Family events and has been featured on tracks with the likes of Suns Of Arqa, The Messengers, Mark Rae, DJ Vadim and Beatphreak.

>> Vanessa Freeman
Last but not least Singer, songwriter and performer Vanessa Freeman. Vanessa's voice is an experience to behold, immediately distinctive, unadulterated quality and sheer joy. Her live performances are spiritual, recordings timeless and her songs sublime. Vanessa's musical career started early when she joined the local church chorus at the age of twelve and her impact has been felt by many notably for the huge contribution to the acid jazz revival in the nineties.

Together they bring one of our most outstanding collective performances this year. Sit back and relax or get up and dance.

PREMIERE: Hidden Crew - Ain't Nobody (MVC Project Dusty Mix) [Yesenia]

In Hour 2 we welcome Khruangbin , the Texan trio who take influence from 1960's Thai funk (their name literally translates to "Engine Fly" in Thai ) and include Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald “DJ” Johnson on drums. Their debut album from 2015 ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’ is steeped in the bass heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspirations and was recorded at their spiritual home, a remote barn deep in the Texas countryside. The band listened to a lot of different types of music on the long drives out to the country but their favorites were 60s and 70s Thai cassettes gleaned from the cult Monrakplengthai blog and compilations of southeast Asian pop, rock and funk. Their mix is a sublime selection of music that includes Arthur Verocai, Return to Forever, Serge Gainsbourg, Miles Davis and some incredibly rare records from Christy Azuma, Ahmed Fakroun and Theodora Ifudu. You can catch them playing alongside Kendrick Lamar, Jamie XX and Kamasi Washington in Hyde Park, London on 2nd July, their US Tour kicks off in September and they have a remix release coming out in early June.
