Originally released by Musical Freedom, the instrumental edit of 19-year-old Oliver Heldens’ deep house smash ‘Gecko’ has become a staple in club sets for 2014, peaking at #2 in the Beatport chart and garnering support from the likes of Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Zane Lowe. 

The latest edit ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’, written and vocalled by Becky Hill during a late night recording session with MNEK, is being released by Parlophone’s vital new dance imprint FFRR. Initially written for another vocalist, Becky’s towering vocal on Gecko’s chorus was deemed the perfect fit and has already been coined the ‘Hottest Record in the World’ by Zane Lowe.

The year is 2017 and Southern California is experiencing its worst drought to date. The Governor has called for an all out state-of-emergency in order for people to reduce, reuse, and recycle, but not for a drought one would expect — four-on-the-floor beats. An unforeseen consequence that in a time of digitalization and over-saturation has left us on a loop and have left the people dehydrated. 

Venues have openly expressed this deep thirst through parched lips and swollen tongues. Dusty hands are put in the air between spotlights and lazers. Children weep on corners to empty grooves. To what purpose? Is there an end to the madness?
 
One party crew has risen from the ashes of a saturated music scene to deliver fresh and fluid House beats to quench the thirst of its parched citizens. West Coast born-and-bred musicians (magicians, if you will), Fritz Carlton, Ghostea, Kevin Anderson, Lubelski, and Rybo have banded together in pursuit of resolving this saturation by giving their beats to the good people of LA and the world with a brand new label titled - Room Temperature Records
 
Their first compilation comes as a teaser of the eclecticism that Room Temp offers LA’s House Music scene — an 11-track heated curation including music from the likes of CA’s Justin Jay, Australia’s Kovaxx, UK’s Josh Brown, Sweden’s Ulf Bonde, and San Francisco’s MPHD.

Our favorite dogs are back with their 3rd Night Bass EP and it’s an absolute monster. The Westcoaster EP kicks off with the title track, a road tested smasher with a haunting intro that builds up into one of the most energetic drops we’ve heard in a while. Mike McFly is back again with a selection of collaborations with friends from around the World. This highly productive Dutch producer is truly on fire right now with recent releases on Dirtybird and Relief. We've had the pleasure to work with Mike for some time now and as a close friend of the family, we are of course really excited to release these four collaborations with AVAA, Foolie, Kallendario and Feel Flow.

The first track is called 'Bang Like This', perfectly setting the tone for the release with its banging vibe. Mike McFly and AVAA show their love for big bouncy beats and bass arrangements that are accompanied by slick vocal chops making it a guaranteed club hit. The Second tune off the release, 'Sticky Icky', is a heavy hitter and comes to show the dark gritty vibes we've come to love from Foolie. It's a pretty given outcome when you think of these two producers and their production styles.

We then take it even a step further down the rabbit hole with the third tune called 'Coke', talking about the world's most famous drink we assume...or something else. All-in-all, another solid collab on the release and of course the Italian 'Feel Flow' duo are known for their sometimes trippy bass journeys so this one is definitely one for the after hours.

To finish off the release we have the collaboration with Kallendario and the tune 'Shake Ya'. This track rounds off the release perfectly with its somewhat wonky funky groove.
