The word "milieux" captures the essence of a created atmosphere; the particular feeling of a thing or place. Brooklyn-based producer MALAKAI dons his newest EP with this name, encompassing an innovative and new wave ambiance unique to this musical opus. This four-track collection leads with its undeniable hip-hop and trip-hop influences, highlighted by globally-influenced sounds from various string instruments, drums, and chimes. From the headphone beat track "Appa" to the heavy-hitting "What's Matter," the variety on this EP—featuring collaborations with Smigonaut and 5AM—cements Malakai's undeniable presence in this ever-growing sound movement.
