Milos Kaiser is already confirmed for Dekmantel Selectors this August, and the São Paolo selector is exactly the sort of man you want to hear playing on a sunny beach. Over the past decade he has constantly excited people with his far ranging sets of rare and unknown gems. They represent every facet of Brazil's rich musical tapestry but always become dance floor heaters in his hands. He runs his own bar, Caracol, with friends, and is known for making his own edits of the tunes he plays.

Over 70 minutes here he goes deep into a smorgasbord of synth sounds from tropical to pop, darker to more electro tinged. There are long legged and laid back grooves to get you slowly bumping, and more punchy tracks that get hands in the air and the good times flowing. All in all it makes for a joyous listen that is so warm and bright you will almost be able to feel the rays on your face and the sand between your toes.

Our new In Focus mix series have been brought to life during times of isolation. And what’s better than spending your time diving into new music or DJ-sets from artists you admire? That’s what we thought. The next couple of weeks, we will be asking one artist each week to deliver a mix build around a self-picked theme. Everyone is free to do what and how they feel like, and create something special for themselves and everyone who’s keen to give it a listen too. We hope you enjoy.

Who else would be better to kick off with than our dear friend Palms Trax? Not only has Jay been a favourite of ours for years, he has become probably everyone else’s as well. His contribution to In Focus is one we have listened to in one go: a “100% originals, features, edits and remixes by Joaquin Joe Claussell” mix, which resulted in a stirring and spiritual tribute to one of the all-time greats.

Palms Trax: “Over the last couple of years I’ve found his music to have this wonderful effect on a dancefloor where the whole place can feel like it’s levitating, so when lockdown hit I started going through his records at home and found it to be incredibly healing. Hopefully some people out there feel the same way!“.

"Gosto de ir do Baleárico ao Axé, do Downtempo ao Rap, sempre misturando gêneros que normalmente não andariam juntos para criar uma atmosfera mais dinâmica. Me agrada também ter um certo senso de humor dentro da música e adicionar faixas antes já conhecidas com um toque extra um pouquinho diferente. 
Este set me permitiu não só juntar melodias tão distintas como também reunir músicas que vem de lugares e origens nada próximas entre elas.

Para adicionar, este ano sofremos a perda do multi-instrumentista cantor e compositor Moraes Moreira e resolvi iniciar o set prestando uma pequena homenagem a ele em uma das músicas que eu mais ouvi este ano e nela ele fala “A Bahia tá aí na boca do povo do mundo, hoje todo mundo quer lhe conhecer, hoje todo mundo já lhe dá valor”, acho que ele mesmo sela o nosso encantamento pelo estado e o motivo pelo qual queremos ajudar e estarmos presentes neste momento."
