Undeniably demanding, occasionally straining, but often rewarding and invariably reassuring. In nuce, this is the existential rollercoaster rode by anyone willing to partake in this world of merry music we all strive to keep in motion and feed with emotion for the sole purpose of creating some magic moments that, if not wholly life changing, can be vastly mind altering and deeply heartwarming. However, as far as descriptions go and as honest and earnest as these are, descriptions rarely do justice to the most precious aspects of what is involved here. And this engulfs quite a lot of efforts carried out through manifold fronts that happen to find an outlet in this special space that serves as much more than a place for the meeting of forces, it is a catalyst for possibilities, allowing for the collision of intentions and the fusion of visions. Each episode aims at presenting the results of these encounters, all of them widely varied in terms of the rhythms they include and wildly vivid in the scenes they introduce. So, when we have a guest whose artistic presence is as multifarious as Samwise's, the potential for greatness is enhanced. As a gifted selector, he can be heard sharing his musical knowledge and taste at some of the finest festive initiatives around the globe, as well as helming his own Fast At Work events. His contribution to the series is a mind-opening and world-revealing trip across eclectic and ecstatic soundscapes.

Barcelona-based artist Tunik, is a true master of synth-based music. So much so that the Argentinian is often one of the first artists that springs to mind when in need of a large dose of darkness. His productions and DJ sets speak to a higher power that sees his performances at the likes of Les Enfants Brillants, OUTPUT, and Razzmattaz in his adopted Barcelona, as well as a regular slew of the finest parties around the world. 

Being an in-demand artist doesn't stop Tunik from pursuing his own vision of electronic music. This was born in the shape of the Synth City project, and what followed was an evocative series of events at LEB. We are yet to even mention Tunik’s productions that only appear on labels that are at the vanguard of the underground. His longstanding connection to Dekmantel speaks volumes of the progression of his sound, as does his EP’s for Nicolas Lutz’ My Own Jupiter imprint and Further Electronix.

Tunik is without doubt a true force to be reckoned and we are thrilled to welcome him to our InSession podcast series. A self-confessed genre hopper, we are guided through a cosmic selection that all share an unspoken connection through the ethereal. Lush soundscapes soon give way to enticing breakbeats, mystic synths, and an unwavering groove that is as relentless as his own journey deep into the farthest reaches of his record bag. Since then he has made a steady and admirable progress with his productions and alsop reaching the status of resident at one of electronic music most respected and legendary clubs: Fuse.

After the response from her more downtempo track for our Free Download series we thought it only right to follow up with Xiaolin for a mix for our InSessions series. The Hong Kong native is well-versed in all manner of electronic music spheres, but her penchant lies at the rawer, bleepy end of house music and minimal. As well as these serious club sounds, Xiaolin is also a fine purveyor of more traditional sounds and is a regular face on the Canto Pop scene. 

Recorded live at Mihn Club in Hong Kong, Xiaolin takes control of the atmospheric nightspot from the very beginning of this episode of our mix series. Stripping the action back to the fundamental elements, she injects power moves after power moves into the dancefloor as if priming for tracks that are yet to be introduced. Her unhurried, methodical touch speaks volumes as the next groove and bassline comes thudding into view. While the poppier side of her sound is more carefree, Xiaolin’s mix for our podcast series offers freedom of mind as well as of body.
