Vicky, J.D. and A.J. shoot the breeze with Ken Schramm, author of “The Compleat Meadmaker” and owner of Schramm’s Mead in Ferndale, MI. Pete answers questions about starting your mead batch, including detailed discussion of starters, feeding your mead, restarting stuck batches, as well as finishing a fermentation with various methods like cold crashing, chemical and other nifty info!

Brad got his start on GotMead, and now he’s one of the largest independently owned meaderies in the U.S. We’ll be exploring when he discovered mead, and how he started his business, and where he gets his ideas for some the unique meads he’s created over the years. This week, Pete digs into a question from Scott (Kernel Crush on the GM forums) about YAN, Yeast Assimilatable (is that word?) Nitrogen, and how it can help you get a better ferment, and what we know and don’t know (yet) about how it works in your mead.

GotMead Live is the culmination of years of you guys telling me we needed to be on the air (LOL).
At GotMead Live, just like on the website here, we’re all about mead. Making mead, finding mead, and drinking mead.
The show will be broadcast live, so you can call in and be a part of the show. We’ll also be interviewing people in the mead industry, meadery owners, movers and shakers, and equipment and supplies folks, including beekeepers and honey providers.
