Cameo Culture swirls and warbles across dusty electronic planes, blowing through the town of secrets and pluralisms; singing of sass and fragility, love and loss, jazz and drum machines. Float through this town and take in the starlit fairground, bounce off the cobblestone streets as sweet melodies wash over you. Close your eyes and dance. Let your soul shake it loose. The percussion was grown in a garden amidst the radish bongos and rosemary rainsticks. The vocals fell off a distant star and landed in a gr­ainy polaroid. The trumpets are bitching. The harmonies glide over your goosebumps like snowdrift over miniature moguls. 

Cameo Culture is the work of Dave Robertson, who devotes his life to crafting warm soulful house music, washed-out indie, and slow jams that make your ventricles sing and your soul salivate. Throwing all of these influences into the blender, Robertson makes a sonic smoothie that energizes his production style and aesthetic. His music tells a story of love, fear, warm baths, and mud wrestling. His music speaks to the shapes we create on a dance floor at 5 a.m. A self-proclaimed gear junkie, he seamlessly balances his technical skill as an audio engineer with his passion for real music with depth and soul – a constant commingling of the acoustic with the electronic – that makes his music stand apart.

To party with DJ E.M. is to truly experience a connection that fills your ears and the airwaves with unparalleled energy and contagious enthusiasm for life, movement and music.

Born and raised in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and being exposed to family and friends in the DJ'ing industry, DJ E.M.'s talent and ear for music developed speedily as an adolescent. He acknowledged his gift and similar to every DJ in the industry, his career started as being the "Official Block Party DJ of the Neighborhood". As the fire hydrant was turned on and the barbecues roasted, the neighborhood danced in delight to the incredible sounds provided by DJ E.M. Word of mouth spread quickly and simultaneously, party-bookings as well. Soon enough, his club venue debut was at The Hot Club, NYC in 1996. From that point on, E.M. knew that DJing was his calling and made the commitment to always bring his passion, precision and perseverance to each performance. The career of DJ E.M. simply flourished from then on.

From his club debut to present day, DJ E.M. has rocked numerous clubs across the country, amid the world. He's fired up the main floors at venues such as the legendary Roxy, Webster Hall and LQ's. His travels include the college and club circuit in New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Georgia, Florida and Pennsylvania. DJ E.M. has also been a special guest DJ to international destinations such as his homeland of Puerto Rico and a multi-city tour of Europe with award-winning Reggaeton artist Notch. E.M. has also played alongside respected performers such as DJ Funkmaster Flex (HOT 97 FM), DJ Skribble (MTV), DJ Enuff (HOT 97 FM), DJ Cypha Sounds (HOT 97 FM), Vic Latino (XM Radio & Party 105 FM), DJ Precise & L Boogs and DJ Tony Touch (Power 105.1 FM).

A club night with DJ E.M. on the turntables is a show in itself. He has a distinctive crowd-reading flair which allows him to perform impulsively and spin unprompted tracks that his audience wants to hear. Joakim Frithjof has been quietly making his mark in the underground scene. Starting out with a love for Hip-Hop, turntablism, and early House, his musical journey took a new turn when he moved to Amsterdam in 2005, where clubs like Club11 and Trouw shaped his evolving sound. Over the years, he’s played across Amsterdam, hosted his own parties in Utrecht, and even made appearances in cities like Copenhagen, Berlin, and Stockholm.

His style? Hard to pin down. He loves mixing things up, drawing from House, breakbeat, UK Garage, floathouse, rave, and classics. Always keeping it fresh but never forgetting the roots. He’s more about making people move than fitting into any one box.

Beyond DJ’ing, he applies his wide-ranging taste in music to curating playlists for brands and physical spaces. As Music Director at Kollekt.fm and with his own venture, Sonic Curations, he helps create custom playlists and music identities that not only fit the aesthetic but also enhance the atmosphere, leaving behind a lasting audio impression.

Fun Fact: The first CD he ever bought at age 12 was The Prodigy’s The Fat of the Land, a purchase that marked the beginning of a lifelong obsession with music.
