Gottwood Mix #64 - PACH.

At the wheel for the next mix in our series is '@Bizarre Trax' Co-Founder, B.Love!

The London-based B.Love is a staple in the city's underground scene and is gaining a lot of traction with his smooth yet energetic style, that's underpinned with solid grooves. His latest release on his self-titled imprint, 'B.Love', is a showcase of his funk-infused, sample-heavy production style and is sure to be in many DJ's bags this summer.

This live recording from last year's Gottwood features the first hour of B.Love's set, and we're super excited to share it with you. Showcasing an eclectic selection in his signature funky style, B.Love's sundown set on the 'Curve' really had the crowd moving from start to finish and is a moment that still lingers in our minds

"Staring out across the absolutely packed Lawn of Gottwood Festival 2024 as the sun shone through the trees on Crazy P dropping ‘Heartbreaker' I knew I had a mission to pull off. And that was to first attempt to keep the crowd and second take it from 120bpm disco and drop it off somewhere around 135 bpm electro ready for Freakenstein to come on in full swing. Not the easiest job in the world but one I felt confident to pull off knowing the Gottwood crowd, Crazy P and the Freaky one so well after being a part of all their lives for many years. Berlin-based DJ and producer Edward (Gilles Aiken) is a true master of his craft, known for hypnotic sets that merge groovy, shadowy rhythms with a cosmic edge.

Gottwood Mix #71 - Harry McCanna

For our final mix of 2024, we’re thrilled to present a live recording from this year’s festival.

This set comes from Thoma Bulwer, Danalogue, and Jac Dos,

Captured during their standout live performance on the Lawn stage.

They’ve also taken some time to answer a few questions, giving insight into how this set came together.

Thanks for sharing this incredible recording with us, and taking the time to chat.


How did this collab come about?

Jack:
We are all part of the East London electronic music community and I knew both the guys separately and thought we’d be a good combo for some nutty jams. In late 2023 Thoma put on a live jam event where the 3 of us did an entirely improv set for 4 hours for the first time ever. We had a ball and it was received so well that we decided we should probably do it again, so hit up Tom  and sent him some clips and he was immediately up for it. Shout out to Tom!

Dan: Jack hit me up for Gottwood, introducing me to Thoma, I think they had a pretty solid idea about what they were doing but needed a wild card / chaos jackal - I felt I could do that role.

Thoma:
At the end of 2023 I put on a Parasol Culture live set event at the Boat Live / Shed in Hackney Wick (when it was on White post lane) and we all had played together for hours all off the cuff and it was so well received that we knew we had to do it again and bring that natural energy back. The live set was a combo of samplers, drum machines like the OG TR-909, Perkons, MPC and Dan’s Roland keyboard playing wizardry all mixed together… on the trusty SSL BiG Six mixer with five G series compressors(!) which paved the way to create varied styles of electronic music, all live init.


Was there a preconception for what the set was going to be or was it all off the cuff?

Jack:
A bit of both. We had a load of different parts from released and unreleased music on samplers and drum machines, but also intentionally left loads of space in the set for improv wigging out, which is usually the most fun part. A huge part of the ethos behind the set was to try and represent the chaos and magic that can happen in studio jams, but live in front of a crowd. We also multi-track recorded the whole set and are working on turning some of the jams into tracks.

Dan: For me was deffo off the cuff, I’d recently got back from a fairly relentless ten month tour with my band The Comet is Coming, so just dropped into the rehearsal and added a couple of my tunes as well as supporting the lads’ tunes.

Thoma:
A blend of both all round. We used samplers to roll out mastered stems from released and unreleased material from albums and EPs of mine and Jack’s. Then in rehearsals with Dan we worked up keys and progression for him to play and left space in the programming to jam live all together, impromptu to keep the natural energy of our first jam all together. Approaching it like a journey throughout the set with space live improv moments allowed us to push, pull, give restraint and build up to boot off moments.


Lastly, What’s your favourite thing about Gottwood?

Jack:
To me it feels like a massive, very well put together house party, in an incredible spot. The Gottwood crowd are all super sound. I also love how it’s maintained its original ethos and character and not sold itself out to big brands, like so many do. Everyone working there was a lovely bunch too.


Dan: People are proper friendly, gotta say the staff on the day at the festival looked after us really beautifully.

Thoma: 
The location is magical, the stages and programming is on point and the artists are always on their A game for the festival and the ravers know their tracks and love to rave right. Smiles and beaming and the vibe is infectious.

Kicking off the 2025 with a live recording s from last years festival. Taken from Sunday night at The Curve, this B2B set from Baby Rollén and Gallegos is packed with energy and deep selections.

A journey through house, rave, techno, and breaks, this mix delivers countless twists and turns, with a standout moment being a 'Walking in Memphis' remix. Tasked with warming up for Eris Drew and Octo Octa, they didn’t just set the stage—they set the vibe, locking in the crowd from start to finish.

Their synergy behind the decks, and playful track selection really connected with the crowd, delivering a standout set from 2024

Up next in our mix series we welcome the debut mix from TREBLE MAKERS, the new collaborative project from the founders of Oscuro London.

Made up of  Jayar  Jackling and  Zach Murray this London-based trio have been making moves individually for years, but are now coming together under one name to bring a fresh energy to the scene.

Our next live recording comes from longtime festival friend and collaborator Wax Material.

The Wax Material van has been a quirky corner of the festival for six years, growing from selling records into a space that’s hosted some of the best DJs Gottwood has to offer.

As this is the first time Wax Material has played a stage other than the van, it felt only right to have this set as part of the mix series. Jessie’s set on the Lighthouse was just as you’d imagine, broad, eclectic and full of deep cuts. It showcased her knack for selecting amazing and unique records that kept the crowd  locked in throughout.

We’re excited to welcome her to the mix series, as the Wax Material and Gottwood stories are intertwined. Her taste and style shine through in her selections, crossing garage, house, broken beat and minimal.

With the season drawing to a close, this mix is the perfect way to look back on what’s been an incredible year of music and look ahead to what’s on the horizon for next summer’s Gottwood.

For the next chapter in our mix series we welcome longtime festival performer and friend Itchy Rich.

Rich has been a staple at Gottwood for years, delivering countless standout sets. 
Very much part of the Gottwood family, it felt only right that in the lead up to our landmark fifteenth year,  Rich should now feature in the mix series.

Rich’s personality runs through his sets and selections, and his infectious energy is always felt, keeping the dance floor locked in waiting to hear one of his unreleased edits.

Following a break in our mix series after what can only be described as very a strange year for everyone, we were blown away by this amazing mix of house and techno. Never breaking his groove, @northsouthrecords boss and very much a big part of the Gottwood family after years of service and also recently releasing his track "Fun Dome" on our Gottwax label, @sambangura delivers in a big way!

Explaining his thinking behind the recording, Sam explains "Seeing as we couldn’t enjoy the magic of Gottwood this year I wanted to bring some of it to everyone through this mix. Imagining the sun shining next to the lake as day turns to night, I hope this goes some way to recreating that!"
