I've been wanting to make a synthwave track for a long time. but I could never really figure out how.  I decided to take inspiration from a song I made a long time ago in Music Maker JAM.  Cruise Control has a lot of similarities to the song it's based off of.  The link to the "original" is listed below.  Let me know which one you like better!

Cruise Control

Following their excellent Urgent Turquoise release for Om Recordings, the eclectic and ambitious San Francisco duo Tone of Arc have contributed their evocative sound to Roam Recordings’ second offering of 2016. Tone of Arc are comprised of Derrick Boyd (previously recording under the name Dead Seal) and Zoe Presnick … through well-received releases for the likes of No. 19 Music, Om Records, and Touch Of Class Records the pair have transmitted a series of moody electronic compositions that draw as much inspiration from cerebral post-punk gigs as sweaty, visceral dance floors. 

“Sundust” opens the single with its methodical tempo and haunting soundscapes, electrified by Derrick’s pensive words. The cut unfolds like a dream as layers of synths and vocal snippets build and vibrate throughout. “The Indigent” is a more stripped-down affair. A straight-forward four-on-the-floor rhythm, accented by big tom fills, creates the space for backwards pads and hinted melodies. It’s a mechanical meditation. Barcelona-based producer Lokier (HAKT, Days Of Being Wild) is also on hand for a haunting remix of “Sundust” that adds a commanding bass line and puts a spotlight on the vocal. Its steady forward motion is hypnotic in effect, intensifying the brain-to-feet aspect of Tone of Arc’s music.

The fantastic EP by Club Bizarre is closed by the remix of “Music Machine” by Lithuanian producer and Vilnius’ Opium club booker V. A veteran of Lithuanian electronic music scene, V (real name Vidmantas Čepkauskas) muscles up the original and his years as a DJ can be felt throughout his remix, the tension / release and build are guaranteed to fill the floor.

From slow, heavy and dark basslines to wider, more melodic and energetic works, Alex Aguayo is a Mexican producer who loves to toy around and experiment with different electronic music genres. He has already released his music, both originals and collaborations, on vital labels such as Wonder Stories, Nein, Sinchi, Emerald & Doreen, Night Noise, Rotten City, and Aeon Audio, just to name a few. This time he presents a small independent 6-track album on which he had been working for the last couple of years to be released exclusively on Bandcamp.

"Digital Love" brings a nice mixture of genres he likes to flirt with but shaped by his own sonority and influences. The track we chose to premiere, “Wake Up”, for instance, is highly influenced by Italo Disco, but with hints of Synthpop and House Music combined with futuristic and vintage elements. The result: An enjoyable and upbeat theme, extremely devoted to putting a big smile on your face and making your body surrender to its rhythm.

PREMIERE101 // Alex Aguayo - Wake Up

We have the pleasure of premiering one of the tracks from the debut release of the 3 Fantasmas, the bizarre side of producers Luciano Carestia (aka Lucare/SXDNS175) and Mariano Cirone, two Argentinians lost in the beautiful city of Oaxaca, Mexico. The project is the result of a number of rehearsals and experimentations with new sounds, navigating amidst beer, coconuts and random repetitions.

“Espíritu Maya Mi”, the first EP of the duo, is the result of a year or so of collaborations after the reunion of the two hermanos. They began promoting parties in Oaxaca with the intention of exploring the nightlife of their new and enigmatic home. And influenced by their new surroundings, the 3F emerged as a proposal that invites you to dance freely and without prejudice. With a peculiar aesthetic and a lot of ironic humour, hints of madness, colours, cumbia, and plenty of synthesizers, the project is devoted to bringing some spicy chaos during their live-set bashes. 

"Cumbia Vil", the track we chose to review, summarizes the real essence of the project. Despite its downtempo/Balearic mood, the intensity of the theme is mammoth, and the intended weirdness is there. The eerie FXs, the offbeat percussion and the whimsical lyrics (pasted below so that you can sing along, by the way) give you the big picture of the soul meant by the lads.
