Living Room Sessions DJ Mix

I made this mix after my interview and conversation with Ralph Moore for Mixmag, and it's inspired by lots of the music and references we were discussing. I wanted to do a mix for Mixmag you wouldn’t usually get going through soul, funk, reggae, disco, R&B and house. All the songs are tunes I’ve been digging this past year during the pandemic. I had a lot of fun digging records for this mix and recorded it live in my studio The Other Ship in Ibiza.

We've been big fans of Leftside Wobble's 'Acid Soul' series, so we are delighted to have him put together a mix for us. Here are some words from him regarding his mix for us:

"Leftside Classics is a retrospective featuring some of the tracks that have meant the most to me over the last five years or so. These are the tracks that somehow always find a way back into my sets, tracks that rise above the transient and tracks that defy limiting genre pigeonholes. My sets have always been about joining the dots, celebrating the eclectic and supporting those tracks that exist in the rich hinterland between dub, funk, disco and house. Hopefully this retrospective captures that overriding ethos.

I've included a small selection of unreleased LW bits and a few exclusive versions of well known staples to keep things pushing forward too.

Getting back from such a great festival you always have lots of great music buzzing around your head. I decided I get these out of my head and on to a mix. Bradley met Duke Hugh in Amsterdam, when he handed him a green USB stick after a show. He played the promos in the empty club and the first track immediately grabbed his attention - he knew it was something special. When he remembered the hook to Green Leaf the next morning he signed the release almost instantly. 


Each song has its own essence, there is absolutely no filler and the entire double pack sits together as a perfect whole. Flirting with aspects of broken beat, Jazz, hip hop and dreamy electronica - Duke Hugh winds together a most idiosyncratic release equally at home on the peak time dancefloor as it would be for a long road trip. Canvas is a big statement from an artist who's here to stay.
