Paul Bowen returns with three more brilliantly deep and raw tracks on the second volume of his Dubbed Out series. 

Bowen is a proud warm-up DJ who makes music for just that occasion. Those warm, detailed tracks entice people to the floor and slowly but surely build the party. It is a fine art and one that he has been perfecting as a DJ and producer for more than 15 years. He has played all over the world at cult parties like Back to Basics and Tribal Sessions and has had support from BBC Radio 1, DJs like DJ W!ld, Rich Nxt and Paco Osuna. He is one of the forces behind the much loved *riffraff parties - and recently launched new event doblar - and with his Luna Records label has put out music by greats like Matthias Tanzmann. 

The gifted producer opens this EP with the superbly heavy, rolling and dubby house of 'Bonehead.' The lumpy kicks nail you to the floor while plenty of subtle hits, and ticks provide the details to keep your mind locked in. 'Possible' is another masterclass in expertly reduced house music that does a lot with a little. Shakers add texture to the tight kicks and lazy claps bring subtle hints of funk as things build and build but never boil over. Closer 'Entire' is a perfect B2 - a little edgier and more late-night thanks to the freaky vocals while gnawing bass and prickly hits keep things moving. These are three perfectly designed rollers for those who like it heady.

A unique, romantic summer disco ballad here, by young producer talent KAYYAK from Zurich, issued on Swiss imprint rumpelmusig.

"It was a Friday night at the end of May. Spring whistled the first balearic air to the Zürisee. My wife and I made our way to a dinner at the lake. Sitting down at Mönchhof in Kilchberg, talking of our love. We get up and start cruising along the lake, windows open, Love songs playing loud and the sunset mirrored in my wife’s eyes, singing along our favourite music.

We end up in the studio together recording this song, Mönchhof Amour. Xenia's first time on vocals, celebrating and confident, while I run around the room finding the right sounds. Hyped up from the Aperol Spritz at Mönchhof, we sing ‘Once I know I have to find my soul I let you know’ deep into to the night.

Weeks pass & I show Kalabrese the song, his soul connects right away. He walks to the Wurlitzer and records a brilliant Solo melody in the middle of the song. We start playing the song at parties, always fine-tuning together. Kala really understanding the love couple, the best man on our side. A real Rumpel Love-story.

Milano-based producer Eluard graces Slow Motion Records once again with his debut album ‘Dirty Hall’. A release filled with his distinctively nostalgic tone, blending West Coast synth funk and Italo Disco with appropriate, seamless grit.

‘Dirty Hall’ opens with ‘Die Erste Musik’,  a chiming track with a wide, captivating vocal sampler riff that delicately dances off fizzing percussion. Creamy, glistening chords sit beautifully within this arrangement effortlessly complementing the bassline. This approach is taken a step further in the following ‘Carlo E Daria’, with an instantly attention-grabbing swirling synth motif.

‘Dirty Hall’ shows the breadth of Eluard's innate talent for harnessing the best out of the analogue machine, creating a rich sonic palette that never fails to warm the ears. The thundering lows of ‘Comic Bad’ are met with a mind-bending augmented synth line and a beautifully enigmatic vocal riff.

Eluard’s sound design throughout this LP masterfully pushes the retro into the present realm, retaining the characterful intrigue of the instruments recorded. Intelligently placed harmonies in ‘Dancers Are Thin And Pretty’ and ‘Funny Jasmine’ help to raise the instrumental sequences, allowing the listener to be transported to a more reflective, existential space.

The slick flare of elegant floor filler ‘Phonemes’ solidifies Eluard as a visionary within the Italian Dance Wave Movement, layering distinguished instrumentals with perfectly placed melodics.

‘Dirty Hall’ eloquently concludes with the sophisticated sleaze of ‘In The Next Room’. A masterful nod to the golden era of the vocoder with a stomping, percussive groove and a cleansing chordal sequence. ‘Dirty Hall’ is an LP charged with a mind-bending evocation instilling Eluard as a forward-thinking force within the sonic sphere.

From Barcelona, Fernanda Arrau is back, presenting her latest EP 'Sexy Dance.' The talented Chilean DJ and producer made her debut on the label with "Calypso" in 'Muy Divas Vol 1', and now she immerses us in a world of shimmering sounds and hypnotic rhythms.

The EP, consisting of three cuts: two of them original versions and a masterful edit by Bawrut.

The EP kicks off with "Sexy Dance," a track that's fresh, fun, and simultaneously seductive. With a playful bassline, echoing vocals, an enjoyable cowbell, and a solid drumbeat, this 6-and-a-half-minute song leads listeners into a state of hypnotic dancing.

Moving on, we encounter "Simple," a track that dazzles with its depth and sparkle. The combination of the drums and the enveloping bass keeps your feet grounded, while the pure pads guide listeners on a delicate and enchanting journey.

Their next EP, "Hold On", along with regular collaborator Paya, is simply a delight! We fell particularly in love with "Deep Inside", hence the decision of premiering it. The theme endorses the competence of the Dutch duo and is destined to become a huge success even during the cold European winter – enjoying it at a pool party in Côte d'Azur will have to wait a little bit. A kaleidoscopic sonic riot, Nandakke? is the hotly anticipated debut album from Japanese-Belgian duo Aili. Featuring 10 tracks of surreal electro-pop, joyful electronica, house music and more, Nandakke? is a euphoric album that sees Aili Maruyama and Orson Wouters more than fulfil the promise of their acclaimed debut EP. https://soundcloud.com/ailimakesmusic

Recorded over the course of six months in Orson's studio, packed full of vintage synths, Nandakke? captures the spontaneous spirit and creativity of those sessions. Exchanging riffs and rhythms, bouncing sounds and samples off each other, Aili and Orson would let the music take them where it wanted. The result, an album full of wild ideas and bold, playful experimentation.

More than anything an exhilarating feeling of discovery courses through Nandakke?, leaving you never sure where it will go next. One minute a pulsing electro-pop number featuring Aili's dad discussing his takoyaki (battered octopus) recipe, the next an explosive high energy workout song like Up & Down.

Certainly Aili was surprised to find herself singing in her own unique version of Japanese again.

"I thought that I was done with that after our debut EP, but apparently not as I speak even more Japanese on the album!" said Maruyama. "Every time we were in the studio these words would just tumble out. It's a complicated language but I just love to play with it.

“In many ways I'm an outsider, I left Tokyo aged 7, so there's a lot I notice as someone who is not a native speaker and it doesn't always make sense, there’s a lot of mistakes in it. But in a way that sums up the whole philosophy of the album and how Orson and I work together.”

That notion of duality, a sense of belonging but feeling apart, of being between two worlds and inventing your own captures the spirit of Nandakke?, itself a Japanese word that roughly translates to "Well, what was it?".

"It's something you say when you're looking for a word, like you know it but have forgotten how to say it. That's literally how I communicate with my dad the whole time," Maruyama explains. "The main feeling I have when I go to Japan is that I know the language, I can speak it, but part of me still feels like it doesn't have all the vocabulary. There’s a gap there that nandakke has always filled for me. All the lyrics come from that place, that seven-year old trying to speak Japanese."

Whether Aili’s singing about the language she invented with her father over the years to bridge the gap between them (Nandakke?), the idiosyncratic Japanese relationship to fashion (Fashion) or riffing on children’s playground songs (Yubikiri) the result is a remarkable album that defies easy categorisation.

Bursting onto the Belgian scene in 2021 with their acclaimed debut EP, Dansu, its lead track spent 8 consecutive weeks at the #1 spot of Radio 1’s VOX list and saw the band nominated for Studio Brussel’s De Nieuwe Lichting (‘New Generation’) award. Since then Aili have appeared playing live on the Belgian TV show Roomies, been tipped by the likes of Rolling Stone, become regulars on tastemaker stations like KEXP and KCRW in the US and Nova in France, toured across Europe and, just recently, played their first sell out shows in Japan.

'Pili Pili' is the legendary band of Jasper van´t Hof from the 80s / 90s.  

In 1984 he presented the  project, which is still successful today, in which European jazz is combined with African music and danceable grooves. The title track of the first LP, a 15-minute trance production with African drums, made him famous overnight on the dance floor of the club scene. Singer Angelique Kidjo was discovered and Pili Pili played in changing line-ups in Europe for 20 years. In 1998 the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung wrote: “The Afro Beat by Pili Pili is more than just a fashionable exotic colour. Its originality is combined with instrumental virtuosity that is unique to jazz. Pili Pili houses rock and funk under one roof. ” 'Dance Jazz Live' is the title of one of the Pili Pili CDs and still the group's motto."  (taken from Afro-Jazz-Fusion State Jazz 2018 Press release)

'I got in touch with Pili Pili on a tour to Innsbruck and then North of Italy, Bolzano in 2010.  It was on the radio randomly playing in the car whilst we were driving. I managed to get the name and fell in love with the whole album. I have to be honest that i never have heard about them before. I felt like i was crate digging in a record shop when I discovered that pearl. In my version, I wanted to play it a bit faster and with a more powerful beat, so decided to make an edit. It took me some weeks until i was happy with the result without killing the vibe and the structure of the awesome original. Somehow, I sometimes think that editing some great tracks is a sort of "sacrilege" with art... Nevertheless... this was the result:)'
