Woody92 is a multidisciplinary artist and sculptor of a unique sonic realm; exploring psychoactive strains of dwelling textures, push forward shamanism, deep lysergic and deconstructed blending of techno.

2024 has seen Woody playing one of the final sets at the legendary De School closing party, debuting at Berghain with his own Omen Wapta label night, a standout performance at Organik festival and a debut at the hallowed Paral-lel festival later this year.

MNMT 420 contains music forthcoming on his Omen Wapta label, unreleased projects from friends and collaborative pieces made with younger brother Floid.

The fundamental vision of the mix is a stream that descends from the forest horizon, twisting and turning toward the foreground, filling the spaces with a tactile and fluid sense of motion. The perspective vanishes into a percussive dialogue inside ancient realms. And where layers of space stretch endlessly within morphological distances.

Back in 2023 we were lucky enough to release an exceptional podcast from Timnah - our ears were hooked! We immediately felt the potential and knew that she would be the DJ to provide the perfect festival afternoon soundtrack to our beloved forest.

Fast forward to Sunday afternoon at Monument Festival 2024, and Timnah’s set completely surpassed our already high expectations. From the moment she started, it was clear this was going to be something special.

Starting slow and deep, setting the stage like the opening of an epic tale, Timnah’s set unfolded layer by layer, note by note like a cinematic sonic story told deep in the forest by a master storyteller, one that could have only been by Timnah herself.

Close brother, Sunburn crew co-founder and Ngunnawal/Ngambri based Fontenoy with a patient melter that slowly arranges into deep and dark meticulous spaces. Thrumming atmospheres in combination  with thriving basslines that echo inside our inner being. He brings us into a new density of warped sonics. I'm highly recommending his @stockgrazing label that just saw the light.

Following releases from Lurka and Keplrr, GRACE has something more introspective in store. The label's fourth outing is a tasty collaboration between Bristol's @georg-i and Lisbon-based lyricist @olderbrotherolderbrother. Their 'Warm Skin' EP is a journey through slick, hi-tek bass and trip-hop injected with gritty vocal poetry.

Both artists are hitting their stride. Since 2021, georg-i has gone from strength to strength, his razor-sharp slappers appearing on YCO, FELT, and more recently, as the inaugural release on CCL's Subglow. Meanwhile, Older Brother's otherworldly vocals have featured on Timedance, Metrist's SOSOSO, and now a full release with the iconic imprint Numbers. 

On this EP, a soundworld emerges that recalls the dark intimacy of Massive Attack's Mezzanine and the beat science of Samurai Music. These two artists' combined talent makes for beautiful, moody listening - a third space between wonder and cynicism.

For their debut EP on Tectonic, Beatrice M. drops four deep, dubby cuts bringing weighted bass energy together with techno sensibilities and advanced percussive manoeuvers. Elegant but powerful tracks built for sound systems and curious ears!

Midnight Swim is an ode to the “softer” club sounds, repetitive aquatic grooves that remind Beatrice of their go-to sport: swimming. No phones, just back and forth in the cold water, settling into a mechanical groove. The opening track, Oval, carries its title from the appreciation of soft edges, little distortion, minimal rhythmic pattern.

Upon hearing Pinch’s tune 136 Trek, (itself a nod to Zinc’s 138 Trek), Beatrice decided to name a tune 132 Trek, to continue the lineage of their musical heritage. The tune was already called Trek because it was made after spending some months in London, and realising “everything is a bloody trek”!! 

The EP’s title track is about warm-up music and enjoying the earlier hours of the party - a quick immersion and then time for bed, rather than banging club tracks all night long. Beatrice likes to show up early at the club, watch it fill and then leave as it packs out. Midnight Swim is a dip into a roller. 

The last tune of the EP features Sub Basics, the first artist to have a vinyl release on Beatrice’s own label, Bait, and one of their biggest musical inspirations. Sub Basics’ immersive progressive sounds fit simultaneously in the deep techno world and the dubstep world. A beautiful in-between.

The first episode of habitus mix brings together the minds and skills of Pugilist and Firas. Pugilist is the prolific and acclaimed Scottish/Kiwi producer who recently launched his own imprint Ruff Kutz and who has released music on such celebrated record labels as Nous'klaer Audio, Modern Hypnosis, Samurai Records, 3024 and Banoffee Pies Records. Firas is a Syrian-Australian DJ and broadcaster, and the music director at PBS 106.7FM, Naarm's premier specialist music radio station. 

This episode features music from such artists as L.B. Dub Corp, Flying Lotus, DJ Plead & rRoxymore, Crown and Country, LSS, Quincy Raw, Big Hands, Barker, and Forest Drive West, to name just a few. The tracks included here are at once joyful and heartbreaking, still and furious, ambient and ecstatic. Brilliant mixing and long, patient blends hold the music together, and loose, imperfect ruptures ensure that this 2.5-hour episode remains compelling from start to finish.
